Thermal sight in heavy rain

Don't have a good reference but I am a little surprise that Thermal sight can see 2000m in a heavy rain weather.

Shouldn't it be degraded by water droplets into a closer range , like 500~1000m?

This is the Bradley with its thermals in the tutorial. I'm using the tutorial especially because the foggy weather means we're unable to use visual spectrum spotting. You can see how the thermals here are able to spot as far as 7 hexes away over flat ground and if we had an altitude advantage the SUI shows us our detection range is all the way out to 16 hexes. The rain is degrading performance by ~33%. (I could look up the exact number, but it's not really all that relevant. The point here is that thermals are awesome and that's how good they are even when degraded by suboptimal conditions.)
