Earth Loses Gravity. Details at 11:00

I'm going to try to write an AAR that I myself would want to read. I'm looking for opinions, tendencies, good tips, etc. Also, when I make a mistake don't hesitate to point it out if you are so inclined. Mostly, I want a place to organize my documentation. I'm 76 yrs old now and I tend to forget things. So if I can post about the situation I can go back weeks later to review the facts that lead to what's happening now. That kind of thing. I'm watching the video series (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYvcGiT ... qI&index=1 ) by Frederick2 and I'm inspired. Thank you for your interest in this matter.

As part of the "Deadman" scenario Andy has the AI taking bases not normally considered. Case in point: I've got at least a dozen AK-types leaving
Anchorage moving to
Dutch Harbor at full speed while the enemy ships stand offshore at
Seward while I try to figure out what kind of ships they are. Surely they aren't really
TK's. I surely have some ships I can move there to help checkout what's happening up here. Surely I have some planes I can fly into
Anchorage to
CAP things up here. I'll see what I can do.

I found some aircraft at
Anchorage I can use to strike the PORT at
Seward hoping to catch the ships without any air cover or escort or way to strike back unless they drive north to bombard
Anchorage. Maybe I should move the aircraft to a safer base.

I found an
ACM laying around
Juneau with mines on it. I'm hoping I can deposit those mines at
Seward as a first idea I can think of to do SOMETHING about those ships. Maybe they will leave after a while and I can deposit those mines without much of a threat.

I found a
PBY-5 at
Kodiak that's low on morale but has low fatigue but whose squadron's planes are all repaired. The
PBY-5A has less range than the vinalla version due to the weight of it's retractable landing gear making it a true amphibious-type. I don't need that kind of upgrade this early in the game for this model. It has a good leader so I have no need to make grevious changes.

I've got one minelayer at
Batavia and it's got
75 mines that need to be laid at
Miri if at all possible. Or at least someplace on north
Borneo for when the Japs start their landings there.

I was afraid to start posting here since I'm such a newbie but on the other hand there's no better place to get good advice. Thank you for your welcome. I'm looking forward to getting into this game seriously because I always learn a thing or two. I'll try to keep posting just the stuff that's important and skip the minutia. And to keep you guys in the know and up to date.

It may be a mistake but just off the top of my head without thinking about it twice I decided to move the
Port Blair RN Detachment from
Port Blair to
Rangoon while I still can without heartburn. I'll move something else into
Port Blair from
India to babysit the base.

Rigel is the ONE Dutch Minelayer that I don't risk at all. She is the only one that can convert to a precious AR repair ship (after the June upgrade, conversion in December 1942. I send it somewhere very safe - even off-map. If you change the mission type while docked the mines will offload to the pools where other MLs using that kind of mine can get them.

IMO that's a good move. That detachment can't build much in Pt. Blair before the Japanese arrive because the malaria effect is too high - it shows in fatigue and disruption, and then in lower morale. At Rangoon it can contribute to building and air support.
Only send a unit to Pt. Blair if you want it to be a speed bump for the Japanese - strong enough to fight off a para landing or a small detachment landing but not a full SNLF, NG or army Bn.

I wish I had known this before I sent it to Miri. It's already been intercepted by a Jap sub and sunk by a single torpedo. D'oh.

T
hanks muchly. The unit I'm moving is an engineer base force and would be more useful elsewhere, was my thinking. I didn't know about the pestilence problem ( malaria, etc. ). Good to know, thanks.

Here's the report on the circumstances behind the sinking of my minelayer. It happened just now during the Jap turn in the combat phase. It sank just after this event. This image shows no Jap sub and a different ship in the yellow circle because this is an Allied turn and is after the fact and the different ship in that location now is an accident of fate.

This "Deadman" scenario is kicking my ass. These are some of the places the Japs hit and all that I know about them.
Christmas Island,
Denpasar in Java,
Seward near
Anchorage,
Johnson Island,
Midway Island, and
Makin Island were all captured by the Japs. I don't have answers for some of the areas.
