Missing Essex's?

Why is it that in UV the USN has the use of the Bunker Hill (CV-17 commissioned 24 May 1943) While Lexington (ex-Cabot
CV 16 commissioned 17 Feb 1943.) and Yorktown (ex-Bon Homme Richard CV 10 commissioned 15 April 1943) are not available?
This is more out of curiosity more then anything else.. The Idea of 2 more Essex class to play with is rather appealing. So long as your not playing as the Japanese...
I've wondered the same thing myself...

And it also showed up in Pacific War. Those two ships were never available in that game either, I guess because they took the place of two ship (Yorktown and Lexington) when their names were changed - and that might create confusion evidently.
What creates more confusion is their absence. I would gladly allow the Wasp CV7 to spend it's time with CV4 in the Atlantic if I could have those two ships in the game. Unfortunately, Wasp seems to be a torpedo magnet, and ususally winds up as King Neptune's dinner table, or if I am lucky, one of the first ships sent back to Pearl. If I am really lucky, her airgroups spends some time reorganizing at Luganville or Noumea, and then is a grand reinforcement at Lunga, or further up the chain.

You have to remember there was more going on than just the South Pacific battles during 42-43, not every ship could be made available for SOPAC.
They were historically unavailable being used in the centeral Pacific raids on Wake, Marcus Island and the Marshalls and Gilberts. They also supported the operations at Makin and Tarawa.
When WITP comes out you can send them anywhere you want to

Yeah, but...

In that case, they ought to show up as in Pearl, and not assigned, as in just sitting there. They are not even in the game, or in the data base, but every other ship, including those which formed the rest of those possible task forces are either at Pearl or in the SoPAC.

I suppose they could be shown as at Pearl but not every other ship is showing up as in Pearl or SOPAC, Off the top of my head none of the Omaha class crusers, and none of the old Clemson (WW1) destroyers nor any of the Casablanca escort carriers are listed either in the data base several of the larger AP's are not there nor any of the Destroyer Escorts that started showing up in numbers in the fall of 43.
