Hi all;
Anybody have a feel for when SYS damage will be enough so that FLT damage continues to increase:
1) at sea?
2) in port?
3) for the Japanese?
4) for the Allies?

SYS and FLT damage are not tied together to my knowledge when it comes to progressive flooding
For the Japanese, anything 50 or over in terms of FLT is dangerous and may lead to increasing levels of flooding.
Its also dangerous for the USN player though less so if the damage control bonus is toggled on.

Flotation damage at sea will increase-faster for the Japanese than American. You need to get to a level three port or better. Seriously damaged ships may gain more flotation damage in the lesser ports. Who of us has not watched a 90% damaged CV hover back and forth-gaining and losing flotation while sitting in a little port. Usually, if you get a ship's flotation damage down under 80 in any port, she is gonna survive and recover enough flotation so that you can try and move her to safety.
With a slow ship (for whatever reason) I will wait for the flotation damage to completely dissapear before moving the ships. Faster ships can be safely moved with flotation damage but I try not to move any ship with damage above 50% unless it is in a dangerous location.
System damage does not seem to matter. As long as you are in a good port-flotation will recover.

Be careful of FLOT damage on IJN ships. I lost at least 5 ships in my current game even when FLOT was ~60 when I put into port. This was in size 5-9 size ports.
