BTW, for outside observers this is a test to see if the Sov's get any sort of advantage being able to build Hurricanes. I say no way and K62 says they do, so K62 has the honours of playing Russia. I will post updates 4 turns behind the current turn since I will also be posting the entire German line. Enjoy!

The turn should be in your mailbox. Total losses in the first turn:

Axis: 607/178/28/148
Soviet: 5391/1294/1995/4801

I hope you don't expect me to post screenshots :p

Latest news:
Stavka has found out with consternation about the unprovoked Nazi attack on our borders and has vowed to fight back with full determination. It has already ordered the valiant Red Army to cut off and destroy the German spearheads. Military sources wishing to remain anonymous predict total victory within 3 week. Long live the liberation of German workers from opressing Nazi capitalists!

Well, I just finished turn 3 and I couldn't wait to post up the maps so here's the first turn. This is the only single map - the maps following will depict the German position before they start the turn, and then one after combat. I can't find any way to get screenshots directly from WiR so I have to use the WiR Assistant. Works great, but it's much more difficult to see Sov units since on this map they only show Sov units ADJACENT to German units. Plus any weather change is not depicted - it's always the same summer green! But, better than nothing!

More news from the first page of Pravda

The Red Army of Workers and Peasants is bravely fighting back and counter-attacking the Fascist invader. The Order of Lenin has been conferred to the inhabitants of the city of Odessa, who bravely and skillfully beat back last week all Nazi attacks on their beloved hometown. Encouraged by this success, the soldiers of the Northern and Central Fronts staged powerful conter-attacks taking back the cities of Daugavpils and Minsk. They vow not to stop until they will reach and destroy the very cradle of Fascism in the heart of the Third Reich! Their foremost thoughts at this hour of glory also go towards prasing the enlightened leadership of the Party and of our beloved leader, comrade Stalin.

News from Pravda August 10 1941

About the Air Attacks on Moscow

The citizens of Moscow and other cities have recently expressed concern about the now weekly air raids of the hated Nazi air force. The wise and fearless leadership of the Party and of the Army has heard of these complaints and has decided to act quickly and decisively for the benefit of the people. A well-planned and bravely executed ground attack has targeted the airfields of the Fascist Army Group Center. After forcing a river cross and fighting heroically in a surprise assault, our Communist warriors succeeded in destroying or damaging more than 500 Nazi aircraft on their airfields. The Order of Lenin has been awarded to Commisar Ivan Ivanovici, 157th regiment, 26th Rifle Division, who single-handedly blew up no less than 20 Fascist bombers. He has thanked the munficient leadership of the Soviet State for its wise guidance and hopes the factory workers in Moscow appreciate his feat of arms. He has also been quoted to declare: "Long live Comrade Stalin and death to the Fascist invaders!".

It's actually a lot of work to put that yella paint on - I gotta cut and paste first only the terrain, then I gotta cut/edit with white spray paint/paste over top aligned. The white part of the spray is see through, so you can see the terrain beneath. Plus I gotta do 2 halves of the map! At first I just put the cubes in, just because the maps are MUCH more enjoyable if you see the front lines. But they obscure what's beneath them, so now I do the extra work to see the map better. To bad the game doesn't do it that way! Or at least just the border squares!

And in regards to those aircraft: Yer goin down pal! (**** beer!) And the only reason I even considered bombing Moscow (And I could have started a couple turns sooner, only I felt bad) was that counter attack which put me back 3 supply hexes - I needed revenge: I think I got some, so I'm happy.

Man, soooo sorry vanGarvin! I'l get ya yer turn. I tend to concentrate on the 'problem area', and I was having big problems!

Foreign journalists have stolen a Soviet military map and have published it. Stavka strongly denies this is accurate and accuses international imperialism of yet another act of espionage and deceit. Long live the union of the workers and peasants in the relentless struggle against Nazi Fascism!

7 September 1941

Rough losses over the last 2 turns:

Axis: 4000/ 700/1600/900
Soviet: 5000/1100/1000/500

Worried that the massive concentration of the Luftwaffe in front of Moscow is helping the Nazis to slowly push back Zhukov's troops, Stalin has ordered renewed attacks on the Fascist airfields. One was soon overran with 600+ aircraft on it. Long live Stalin!

Alarm! Alarm! Alarm! Enemy at the gates! The quiet Moscow morning of the 21st of September 1941 is brutally interrupted by hundreds of loud public speakers. The enemy has been sighted 40 miles from the capital  The brave Muscovite citizens rush to complete the defence works around the city. They swear to each other that this will be the grave of the so-called 'invincible' Nazi divisions!

Other news: the defenders of Leningrad are holding on bravely even though the city is only supplied over Lake Lagoda now. The defenders of Rostov hang on to their positions with grit determination. A strong Panzer Korps that shamelessly penetrated behind the Voronejh defences has been isolated and counter-attacked.

Death to the Fascist invaders!
