Teleporting Tanaka

In one of my PBEM games the Japanese have invaded Espiritu Santo at both Wunpoko and Luganville. Over the course of 2 turns Allied surface combat TFs engaged the invasion fleets at both locations. In both cases Tanaka dispersed the nearly unprotected transports and the surface TFs managed to kill only 2 of the transports (in spite of the fact that in each case many of them had been previously damaged by air attack and were presumably somewhat slower than normal). The force that dispersed on the first turn did not move from Luganville to Wunpoko. Is there more than one Tanaka? Or did Scottie-san beam him around? Or is this a weird bug? Sorry, I don't save the Combat Reports from turn to turn.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The Tanjman's Excel Scenario #17 OOB workbook (on Spooky's site) lists four Tanakas: K, M, R and T. Tanaka is one of the common family names in Japan, almost certainly in the top 10 most common.
