A question of logistics

Hello All,

Are Truk, Brisbane and Noumea sources of unlimited supply? They almost always seem to be at 90,000 for supplies and fuel. Don't their levels vary as I would expect they should historically?

Regards,

Pascal

They are unlimited. Or at least they get refilled to their maximum every day.

Realistic? Not especially. But both sides can experience localised supply problems.

You will have to wait for WitP to get restrictions on the overall supply levels.

Hi, You can also alter the amounts of supply with the editor. Against the AI no squawk. Cut the Japanese supply to historic levels and you'll see a drastic decline in activity. In WITP the Japanese can send unlimited (well large)amounts of supply to Truk but they will be short somewhere else.

This was a design decision made to add playability for the Japanese player. As Mogami pointed out, it can be easily altered in with the editor.

How about making supply also subject to the 'variable' 'very variable' preference as a modification?

Just out of curiousity what exactly would a good historical supply number be to put in the editor??? Devs did you ever figure this out???

Actually it would probably be more like the Japanese historical sub doctrine switch.

Historical Japanese Supply ON/OFF

This would be a great addition for the devs to add to UV!!!!

It's difficult to say, because at different time periods different levels of supply were reaching Truk.

Japanese supply

Hi, I think the supply levels were set the way they currently are as a result of one of the first questions matrix asked the forum a year before the game came out. The general response was to give the Japanese high supply levels but place it up at Truk. If the Japanese lose their tankers they can still fight but they have to do it at long range. Setting the levels lower do not stop the Japanese it just makes them take longer before they can begin. (They have to wait for the fuel and supply to arrive before they can move it south to stockpile it. ) The fuel amount is much easier to arrive at compared to supply. With fuel you know the total monthly production. (and then you assign a percentage of this to arrive at Truk) But supply? You have to figure they get at least enough to maintain their units. The excess is used by the aircraft and building bases.
