Maritime Recon Fog of War

Hello,

why, when the computer is going through the turn after the order phase has ended, do you get to see the results of your enemy's maritime reconaissance? As the Allied player, for example, I see the Japanese maritime recon reports too. This makes little sense if fog of war is on. Perhaps once in a while I should see that a flying boat or other is detected in the area, but certainly not the actual report sent back. As the computer knows which side is looking at the turn, it is easy to 'turn off' the display of the enemy's reports.

Second, as the maritime recon messages can be numerous, why not include them in the combat report or a separate recon report for consultation? This would be an even stronger suggestion for WitP when this kind of activity will be very, very heavy.

Regards,

Pascal

Hello Pascal,

Many people would like to see seperate spotting results. The game gives away that your TFs have been spotted and so gives you the chance to react to that even though IRL you may not be aware. It also says what you have been identified as. I suspect this is on the wishlist for WitP (and then may be retrofitted back into UV if it's adopted).

A spotting report would also be very useful. UV combat replays when there are few 'combats' can tax ones patience after the 500th one or so :) In WitP they will be even longer. I really hope they adopt something like a report in WitP. But we shall see :)

Hi, In WITP there is a text file produced each turn. At this point it still lists boths sides reports (but it is intended as some point to only show the players reports and omit enemy reports.

Sample from War in the Pacific (Alpha version)
