SPWAW v.H2Hfr**

Germany vs Russia**

Turns 14**

Play as either side or PBEM**

Please note that I am well aware that there have been many very good scenarios on this great tank battle, this scenario in only my interpretation of the battle. There is roughly 200 tanks in this scenario with no infantry and no artillery. Both sides have close ground air cover.**

Enjoy!**

July 12 1943**

On the 12th July the Luftwaffe and artillery units bombed Soviet positions and the SS Divisions formed up into their "Panzerkiel" formations and were astonished to see masses of Soviet armour advancing towards them. What followed was to go down history as one of the largest tank engagements ever mounted. The conflict was fought at very close range with main armament and armour bearing little importance as a hit at almost point blank range would mean certain death. The Luftwaffe and Soviet airforces fought dogfights in the sky above but could play little part in the battle below as friend and foe were indiscernible through the dust and billowing black smoke pouring out from destroyed tanks. The battle raged on all day and by evening as the last shots were being fired the two sides disengaged. German losses amounted to over 300 tanks lost with the Soviets losing a similar number.**

I may be overlooking something :o however I can't find the scenario on the wargamer site! I really wanna play this one!! :( ? On a sidenote, the wargamer site seems to be really a slow load (if at all) lately ... it's disappointing, because I'm currently reading a book about the NVA attack on Lang Vei in 1968, and there's a scenario for SPMBT there I can't d/l !

Actually, I think that there's a bunch of SPWAW stuff *missing* there. There should be more than three pages worth... I seem to recall seeing more in the past. <shrug> Certainly more from M4 Jess...

O'course, there also seems to be relatively little for SPMBT as well. Wonder if their archive gagged recently?

(I'm filling in my scenarios and such, now that I have DSL. <G> Think I'm gonna suck down as much for various games as I can and burn directly to CD, so I'll have 'em in case of site expiration or whatever...)
