Matrix Games to Ship Highway to the Reich Goes Gold!

Woodbridge, NJ, October 20th, 2003 – Matrix Games (http://www.matrixgames.com) is pleased to announce that Highway to the Reich by Panther Games (http://www.panthergames.com) has gone gold and will be shipping out to stores on November 17th.

Highway to the Reich is based on the critically acclaimed Airborne Assault engine and covers the entire Market Garden operation, from the three separate landing zones to the drive by XXX Corps to unify them all before the German counterattack could succeed. The Airborne Assault game engine revolutionizes wargaming. This design allows the player to choose how much to delegate to subordinates and what to handle personally, without the usual concern involved with leaving formations in the computer’s hands. Realistic command delays and supply procedures are integrated with meticulous order of battle and equipment research to allow the player to experience combat and command challenges that are remarkably true to history.

Command like a real General, under real time pressures to achieve real objectives on a real map all within the fog of war. Issue orders to your powerful AI controlled subordinates or take total control of every unit. Fight the worlds most advanced AI opponent or match wits against your friends online or over a LAN.

Lead Parachute Regiments in daring assaults to seize vital bridges, send mighty Armored Divisions into the attack and wield entire Infantry Corps in a race against time. Reshape history in one of the many historical battles covering all major actions of the Market Garden operation or salvage victory from disaster in one of the hypothetical "what-if" encounters.

Create your own maps with our Map Maker utility. You can modify an existing scenario or design your own battle using the Scenario Maker utility.

Highway to the Reich features include:

- Stunning graphics, including new customizable map textures
- Battles covering all of Operation Market Garden including Nijmegen, Eindhoven and Neerpelt
- Detailed Order of Battle covering all forces that participated down to the company level
- Enhanced user interface, including in-game briefings, intel filter, sound control and auto-save
- Advanced AI that can handle your own subordinates as well as running the enemy forces.

Just checked EBGames website and it says HttR preorders ship tomorrow, 11/2. That seems optimistic as I thought I read here that the release date was 11/17?!

PS - Looks like it will be at my local store on Monday 11/3!

PPS - EBGames has updated their website to show preorders shipping on 11/17. :(

Call me impatient

But WTF?

This thing went gold 10/3, now the release date is 12/3?
Pardon me, but that's BS. Either it didn't go gold when you announced it, or you guys royally ****** somebody off at the printers.

I follow a lot of games, and its rare that games take more than 3 weeks to go from announcement to store shelves. I've seen some take as little as a week...

Nevermind, I think I am answering my own question, it must depend on how much you grease the manufacturers

XIII GONE GOLD [01:38 pm]

Ubisoft today announced that their cel-shaded first person shooter XIII has gone gold! The game will ship November 18. You can find a single- and multi-player demo on FileShack if you hadn't tried those out already.
As a secret agent suffering from .....

That's less than a week from gold to ship.
I know my post changes nothing and is just pointless bitching, but I just can't figure out why you would make public announcements and not even be in the ballpark as to when you will get your product out...

Just wait until your at the point when you know there is no chance of a major delay.

providing inaccruate information.... or

Hey nubbin lighten up, mate! The game is due in the shops next week. So it's taken a little longer to get the game printed. Put that down to Xmas scheduling. It's the busiest time of the year to get stuff printed. And it didn't help when we asked the printers to print a whopping great manual either ;).

Great games are worth waiting for. No sense in working yourself up into a negative state. You won't enjoy this cracker of a game as much as you should. Anyway only a day or two now. Happy clubbing! :)

Cough! Splutter, choke!!! What's that??? 12/3??

What's the story? If this game's getting shipped on 11/17, why is it taking over two weeks to arrive at EB? Are they sending the games on a slow boat via China? I mean I know mail services are not the best at getting packages to their destination (when I lived in Austria a friend of mine once received a birthday package 6 months late because the USPS accidentally sent it to Australia) but this is too frustrating.
