Well like the title asks, where can I find reviews of HPS wargames? Doesn't appear the magazine companies or websites that I use have any information on these games made by HPS.

You can find them in PC Gamer Mag and at the Wargamer (www.wargamer.com)

One good place to get feedback about HPS games is the Blitzkreig Wargaming Club forums. This club has a lot of HPS players as regular visitors and maintains a forum for the following HPS lines:

Panzer Campaigns/Modern Campaigns
Squad Battles
Napoleonic games

If you have specific questions about any of the games then you can post a question on the specific forum and I am sure you would receive helpful feedback. Of course, the feedback will be coming from people already sold on the gaming system, so that is something you will want to keep in mind.

They look pretty kewl though, I've been checkin out the HPS site, drooling of course, but, as always, I'm interested in the AI of the different games since I don't get to play online very much.

I think you mix Tiller up with Bill Trotter

The AI is lethal, particularly in the Squad Battles series (which are by far the best of Tiller's games, IMHO). You won't be short of a challenge. PBEM is good too, although one problem with Tiller releasing them as quickly as he does is that you would need a second mortgage to get all of them - and of the potential PBEM community, many just have different games in a series.

I guess the way he does it generates the most profit, but it's a real shame IMHO that something like Squad Battles wasn't a "core" game with add-on modules you could pick up at mid-price. It's very hard to justify full price for "Tour of Duty" when you have "Vietnam", or "Pacific War" when you have "The Proud and the Few" - they are basically just scenario packs. But if it had been modular, everyone could keep up, and I think the games would have been huge in PBEM circles.

Man I want all those Squad Battles games, but, bejebus $49.95 for each one, where's the bargain bin prices? lol I see Advance of the 3rd Reich is $39.95 if you order before November....ohh I better hurry!

I've been scouting ebay for them even, didn't see any either! ;( but, did get some good deals on the old Talon Soft Battleground series of games for Bull Run and Gettysburg, still need Shilo and Chickamauga or however you spell it.

I found two "freeware" Civil War games from you guys giving me links. One is a quick little beer and pretzels type game which I liked a lot. The other Sumter to Appomattox 2 is good also, but, takes a good while to play out a game I see. But, looks very detailed. I see there are some Napoleanic types also from the same sites. Even a complete game over-haul of Panzer General II to a Napoleanic era type game. That should prove interesting.

I keep my eye on e-bay as well for HPS games I haven't gotten much luck there. When the games go up for auction then tend to sell in the $30-35 range so you don't save much money. And of course you might have to wait for 2-3 months before the game you have your eye on comes up for sale there. - James
