Salute..
I bought this game when it first came out and cancelled it because it was not ready.. over the last 2 years I heard all the horror stories and some good things lately good things .. after seeing the posts here I figured I try the game again thats where the problems started
when I load the game and try to play all it does is try to load and I get a blank screen and nothing, I went to their Customer support area on the BBS ( they don't have any real customer support for this game ) and seen that others had same problem so I did all the things they listed to try like defraging ( 130 gigs ) ouch.. new drivers, reinstalling the game etc.. and it still does not work..
this is not a knock on the game but a post of frustration after jumping through the hoops required to be able to play this game if they beleived in their product they would have customer support staff to help you not hide behind their BBS.
The game may be the greatest in the world but not if new customers they are trying to get cannnot get it to load and there is no phone number you can call if you have a problem which from reading the BBS that so many do have.. I sent some e-mails hoping to get a response .. my game time is too short now to have to wait days hoping they can get back to me and help me ..
I did not post this on their bbs because I didn't feel like getting attacked by the fans of the game.. I tried to give the game a fair chance but if i can't log into it how can i recommend it to my friends:
thx for your time ..

"Same here, when i click on the play now button, it goes to white "matrix" screen for 5 seconds then goes back to start screen"
We're experiencing a major barf, nothing to do with the Matrix splash screen at all. No one can get on, not even us ... we're working on it right now.-Doc
Somthing like this?
Does the game start in offline?
I didn't feel like getting attacked by the fans of the game..
I dont think they would have "attacked" you.

People in ww2ol community support forum are usually very helpful especially towards new players.
Check this thread:
http://discussions.playnet.com/viewtopic.php?t=14936
Im in the same boat....Today will be the 2nd day that I cant get in...Hit launch button and black screen..then desktop again. I have been going nuts downloading all the latest drivers and what not...
Can any of you play offline? I can't play offline either... I get CTDed or blue screened
I can load up off line but online it just hangs on the matrix screen.
Using a software firewall like Zonealarm on your computer?
It needs to be told that the NEW version of WWIIOL is permitted to access the Internet...
The Matrix screen may just blank that little prompt from you.
Working offline and NOT working online is a symptom that fits EXACTLY.
well i was up and running becouse when downloaded for the 5th time i didnt reset my settings. its a resoultion problem the highest res i can use is the 1600 anything higher than that and it either freezes on matrix page or sends me back to the start page.....any ideas? would love the help

EDIT (Because of the next post):If your system is a Mac, then ignore this post.
If you can play the game in offline, then the issue lies with either:
1) Connection
2) Playgate (the app that connects you)
3) Your Internet Browser
4) Playnet Account
I realize you don't want to jump through hoops

but if you decide to...here's the things to try:
1) Connection
This is the most likely cause. There is a file called wwiiol_netcheck.bat in your WWIIOL directory. This tests your connection to the authentication server and the game server. It runs basic traceroutes and pings.
A lot of people run a firewall (either zone alarm or a router). WWIIOL uses TCP ports 27015-27020, if you need to open up ports. For ZoneAlarm, you need to either disable it or manually tell it to allow playgate and ww2.exe access through it.
2) Playgate
Make sure you didn't install the game into a directory that has spaces anywhere in the path. (i.e. c:\program files\wwiiol). "Program Files" will cause playgate to get lost trying to execute the ww2.exe. Normally it just loads the game in offline mode, but maybe with this new version it's causing the hangs.
3) Your Internet Browser
The file nplaygate.dll (or something close to that...can't remember) should be in your browser's plugin directory. Also, activeX has to be enabled in your security settings.
4) Account
This is the least likely problem. If there was an account problem, it would give you an error as soon as Playgate accessed the authentication server. The only real way to test this is to try connecting on another box, or using someone elses known good login on your box.

What computer do you have?
Do you have 2 brousers netscape and explorer, if so try it with both I get the black screen in netscape but explorer works fine. otherwise it might be a firewall issue.
Try starting the game with different browser if you have.
What directory did you install the game? Is it default c:\program files\games\crs\wwiiol ?

If you play allied, just tune ch37. This is the 3rd Canadian division. Listen and find out what city they're in...then go and fight with them.
