Alert Reinforcements

In my current campaign game as the Soviet I have been rather free in taking cities I am not supposed to take. Up to last turn I had allowed 54 Alert reinforcement points resulting in 9 German units (2nd Pz, the 2nd Fallschirmjaeger and one artillery).

I'ts midgame (Turn 29). Last turn I took Purpurova Balka (SE corner). Due to the turn it should have resulted in 4 reinforcement points and 15 replacement points. By my calculations this should have resulted in either the next Alert artillery unit, or at the worst the 60th PG appearing.

When I started up this turn I went to check on what unit(s) I had freed up. It appears that EVERY remaining German alert unit is now headed my way. All 13 of them! NO other cities changed hands last turn.

One thing that DID happen was the pocket was formed. Sort of. All roads south are now in my control and the last bridge over the central river (east of Lisyanka) was blown by my German opponent.

Are there automatic reinforcements that appear when the pocket is formed? I don't remember seeing anything about it. If not, HOW did I manage to release 3 full divisions and an artillery unit with just 4 reinforcement alert points?

Other info...human opponent, all settings neutral. Random weather.

Do you have save games? That is the turn before you take Purpurova Balka and then the turn immediately after?

Thanks

Gregor

I have had a look in the Editor, and in the campaign game, there is a setting that says all alert units will enter the game once the alert points reach 55. This is probably what has happened.

Whilst there is only 15 Alert points associated with Purpurova Balka is may be possible that taking this objective took you over that 55 point threshold!

Arhh in fact reading your post again this is what did happen! You mention that the alert points were at 54 last turn.. you only needed one more alert point for all hell to break loose.. guess what... send me your postal address and I will send the holy water :)

Cool. This is a threshold I will watch in the future.

Not worried about all hell breaking loose, though...right now all is well in hand. The majority of the German units are in the pocket. And at the present time the victory 'soothsayer' says I will win with 604 points; just across the major victory line. Still, with little resistance in the south, I figure to take the entire southern edge to push me over to an overwhelming.

Gregor, since the explanation was a threshold I breached I won't send the saves on to you. But thanks for your assistance!

As an aside, have many of you seen heavy fighting in the SE corner? Currently I have 10+ Soviet Divisions facing 8+ German ones in the area defined by the major river loop in the SE corner. Purpurova Balka being about central to that area. I am holding the good defensive terrain and have LOTS of artillery backing (7 peices, including two 2 pointers and the eastern 3 banger).
