Cannot read email header

My friend and I both recently purchased the game and patched up to 1.11 using TrueUpdate. Single-player games work fine for each of us.

He created a PBEM game, using the 12-turn scenario and default settings (unsecure). He took his turn then sent it to me. When I try to open the file, I get "Cannot read header #1."

So I tried to create one. Same scenario and settings. I took my turn then sent it off to him. When he tried to open it, he got "Cannot read header #5."

I've seen these problems mentioned elsewhere on these boards, but have not seen any official solutions. What should we do?

OK, we figured it out. For anyone else encountering this problem, the patches are not cumulative. I was on 1.10 and my friend was on 1.11. Make sure you keep hitting the TrueUpdate button until there are no more patches left to install.

FYI.

Header #5 error is an indicator that you're not at the same version. Header #1 & #3 errors seem to mean the file is corrupted and unuseable.

Also try and ensure that the name of your PBEM games are no more then 8 characters..
