I'm assuming no one is going to have time for any more MCs eh

I would rather be working on a new MC.
Lately though, it seems if I come in here, all that seems to be going on is mudslinging over THAT topic. Actually, if you go anywhere where the Matrix Games Steel Panthers community hangs out, it is just THAT topic.
I have tried to stay out of THAT topic, and so far I am mostly successful.
But unless all the brains in SPWaW stop yammering about THAT topic, I suppose there won't be a new MC any time soon.
FINALLY!

Yo Les,
Someone who agrees with me that THAT thread is a real bore[>:]...next MC however??? [:)]
I am the one who suggested Desert Rats. WB suggested a Guards Division. Someone else said a Canadian or ANZAC force. Personally I am for anything that includes TANKS and lots of 'em! Don't get me wrong, MCSE is fantastic, but now I am in the mood for TANKS!!!
So, WB, what's it gonna be????[:D]

Yo BM,
That was uncalled for. Les, besides the CD's being sent out to people who need them, has done tremendous service to the SPWAW community. I know he is one of a few people who tested all four MCSE threads, and before that with the Steeler team he was testing 7 or more scenarios a week(while the rest of us chugged along at 3 or 4). He puts in a lot of time helping newbies, etc.
Maybe that just snapped out, I give ya the benefit of the doubt, but in case it didn't you should know, Les is a standup guy.

Some thoughts have been bandied about, but it's up to Bill. I'm lobbying for a continuation to Watchtower, following "The Old Breed" from New Britain through Okinawa, and possibly beyond.
The Italian Campaign has not been covered. This is a good one, IMHO. Amphibious assaults, desperate defensive battles (think Anzio), mountain battles (Monte Cassino) , etc.
The China/Burma/India theater? Not enough player interest, unfortunately. The Eastern Front? MCLV has that covered pretty well, but there are possibilities.
If there were to be a new MC, what would you want?

As you can see im not questioning charity or service, just comments about a thread that I have started for the sake of the Community.I felt slightly attacked and gave a nudge back. This isnt the first time and Im an adult here like everyone else.Curb the sarcasim and i most certainly will curb my attitude.Agreed?

I feel like I'm in a dodge ball game!
Now going to the subject at hand, I'd love to see another MC. I'd be willing to give it a try.
We must understand that the desire of a few no matter how intense, is not enough to justify such an effort unless there is a lot of support for it. I don't sense that right now. I'm not sure how things are going with MC-SE but from the lack of posts and the possible lack of interest, at least according to what I am seeing here or have heard personally, it does not seem that the majority interest is in that direction.
Now if you gentlemen would like to prove me wrong, I'd be more than happy to eat my words....

IF we were to do a Pacific Mega-Campaign, it would be a toss-up between Okinawa, or the Far East.
East Front would probably be late 42-43 Stalingrad to Kursk or thereabouts.
West Front would be either Canadian or British suffering under Monty [:'(] !
The Italian campaign looms large in my mind. There is room here for so many things and it is perhaps the least known of all the campaigns of World War II. The struggle for Italy was one of the toughest fights the Allies faced.
I don't have much enthusiasm for early struggles, 1940 in Western Europe. The German-Allied confrontation in the Balkans is not that compelling either.
Okinawa surpasses anything else fought in the Pacific. It was land, sea and air. The latest weaponry was used and the Japanese were defending what they considered their homeland. Every type of battle took place here and I find it most fascinating.

For the record it was not my intent to be sarcastic, but I don't begrudge BM for seeing it that way, it was a possible way to see it.
I try my best for the community, and I realise it doesn't come in the form of the hacking and slashing my way through deadly dull statistics.
I am willing to say that it is indeed hard work, and work I don't wish to do for sure big time.
My hats off to those with the passion to attempt it.
But the important thing we all need to do, is try to not be mean to each other whilst doing it.
I am greatly distressed seeing all the bad feelings it is generating. That is a form of friendly fire that we should be trying to avoid.
Me, often my best services come in the form of less statistical methods. I have never had an easy time with numbers, I hate math in spite of my love of theoretical physics.
I just wish the guys could realise, that arguing over the numbers in a computer wargame, is really quite silly in some ways.
The game has numerous ways it grotesquely fails to simulate the real world or the actual war. It's inevitable though, it's just a game.
So in the end, I have become dismayed, as it seems like all the fire and passion of our dedicated types, is invested in waging a war over correct numbers.
I have been playing the game off and on since christmas. I haven't really noticed any major damage to my enjoyment factor.
I personally think the game only excells inside of the Mega Campaigns.
So point values regardless of the means to generate them, have little use to me in the end. All I want is deliberately intentionally designed Steel panthers battles, ones that have been ruthlessly examined for minute details till they are the best experiences possible.
Every once and a while I ponder whether I should try the game PBEM style. But in the end, I don't think the game will ever be accurate enough.
So I just don't play it that way.
Now returning to discussing MCs for the future. Unless David gives me Combat Leader to shut me up

, I plan on contemplating new MCs (even if I have to use an older OOB to do it heheh

).
And I agree with Rory, give me something based on an armoured division. We can do a bungle in the jungle with a very infantry oriented MC after the next one.
Merril's Marauders or Chindits might be a nice Pacific option (not sure if the time line is developed enough though).
For Italy as a start point if it is chopsen to bein there, I put forward the Ultra cool Devil's Brigade (because the better half was Canadian hehe). Although, it would be difficult to model mountain warfare map wise me thinks.

For some reason the "post new poll" is x'd out for me. Go ahead and post a poll. Maybe specific like offer divisions, or non-specific and just theaters(leading to the more specific poll)
Thanks!!!

Steeler, I already did one poll on "Your Favorite Theater of War for SPWaW", and doing one for a possible new MC would basically be the same thing.
If you want to post a possibility list, go ahead, and I'll do the rest.

All I can do is add my voice to wanting another MC.
I'm sorry Bill that there doesn't seem to be the kind of support for MCSE as you stated above, but I know that I want more! I have the first 3 MC's and with my birthday coming this week, I will be downloading MCSE this Friday! I hope that others who can afford any of the MC's will support Matrix by purchasing them.
As for any future MC's, Italy sounds great. Like WB stated, it is one of the least known or talked about campaigns of the war. For those of you who saw the Battlefield series , the Battle For Italy showed just how much strategy and tactics, along with some brutal fighting at places like Anzio and Monte Cassino was inherent to the Italian theatre. I think this would translate into some exciting and heart pounding scenarios, especially under the guidance of one WB in command![8D]
Of course, I'm always open to more action from the eastern front!

I wouldnt mind seeing the expoits of the 3rd division. My dad,yes my dad was a combat medic in the 3rd i.d. I have his book which lists every little detail about the war as well as some interesting tidbits about what men actualy did to get certain medals, its a treasure to be sure and all i have left of his legacy.I think alot of grognards out there dont realize the hell these men went through. Some have little respect for this theatre but some know better.
What hasnt been done by the mc's?

I wouldn't mind testing again...so WB, if they convince you count me in.
That said....Desert Fox and Lost Victories sold out, rather fast I think. Watchtower is still available as CD (I think the production run was same in all 3). Screaming Eagles is d/l so dunno if it's more or less popular than WT.
So, those where you played Germans sold best...
Of course, as MC is pretty much a volunteer contribution base sales is not everything, but if Germans are so popular howabout Germany's attack to Poland and France? Perhaps add an odd Norwegian scenario also?

ps. Winter War!!!

You know, at this point maybe a series of mini-Megas could be considered. Okinawa could be put into this category, or even some of the Italian campaign battles. Stalingrad has been touched upon by scenario designers, but a connecting mini-Mega would be ideal for this.
What's a mini-Mega? I'm thinking out loud here, so you guys can help me define it.
A mini-Mega would be a branching series of say 10-12 battles within a given campaign, not a full-fledged Mega like the previous ones. This may work in that the connectivity is still there, but would not be so time-intensive for gamers.
What do you think? Is there any merit to this concept?
