This may sound like a silly question to you pros out there but what is the difference between the AK and the AP in Game terms? Thanks for any insight.

AKs are freighters with the ability to carry troops, APs are troop transports with the ability to carry supplies. AKs will load/unload supplies faster than APs, APs will load/unload troops faster than AKs.

The loading tables do say that AK's load cargo about 25% faster than AP's, but it doesn't saying that AP's load troops faster than AK's

Right, the loading tables do not mention troops at all. It's an unproven, subjective observation from playing UV.

I think it's also the official point of vue of the game designers and has been confirmed by my experience.

Another thing: the Allied 1500-ton AK are the only transports that still have a ridiculous AA rating after upgrade (30 something) while all other Allied transports will have 130 or 200 (more than an IJN DD, or an IJN CL squadron).

When I tested it, AKs and APs both loaded troops at the same rate.
