I'm new to war-gaming, but certainly more interested in strategy type like SP, KorsPock, Hwy/Reich, SP sounds good to me though I have the other two.
1. I have XP. NVIDIA, etc, - Will the SP be geared for it?
2. I noticed SP Pachages by Bruderbund available via Amazon (But not in XP). Will they function?
3. At this stage, of course, I'd be working solo, repecting those of you with greater experience.
These questons may seem very fundamental to most of you. But, late in life, I'm trying to get started nd looking forward to some interesting fun.
Thank you,

SPWAW is free, so it won't hurt you to download it and try it out. I don't think you'll have any trouble system-wise. It's a very low resource requirement game, although, since it doesn't work in a windows environment it will use all the computer resources it can grab.
Try it you'll like it!

I think what mkoch means about the game not running windowed is that when you load up SPWAW, it switches to a separate DOS window for the game.
You can see this in several ways.
Most obvious is that you cannot resize SPWAW and there is no min-max or close buttons in the top right corner. There is also no title bar along the top now can you bring up a taskbar on the bottom.
The only way you can switch from SPWAW to a regular windows 'window', which DOES have all the above attributes, is to alt-tab and the icon you have to use is the DOS icon.
At least on my own system, SPWAW doesn't use a lot of resources and I frequently run it with several other programs running in windows in the background. However, I have noticed that if I alt-tab back and forth a lot, that SPWAW must leave something hanging that cumulatively uses up resources and the game will start running slower and eventually crash if I keep it up.

I have heard that a fair number of folks experience problems with PBEM save files if they alt-tab in and out a lot, too.
