Mook Right Hook: The German Perspective

As you have probably read from EricGuitarJames, We are meeting on the field of battle and will be sharing play by play action as we move through the match. I will be the German commander in Mook Right Hook. I am using PowerPoint for my AAR as it allows me a little creativity in pulling it together and is easy to lay out. When you click on the link below it may ask you to install a viewer if you don’t own the software. Some who have tested it say you may have to reconnect to the link after a pause while it downloads and installs the viewer. Hopefully it is not too difficult and you should only have to do it once for all the AAR’s I post. When it opens, you should be able to navigate slide by slide or use the full screen viewer.

I will likely be uploading the whole PowerPoint file for those that want to download it but first I have to talk to Jef about hosting at the Dropzone.

I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to a difficult battle against a worthy opponent! This first AAR is an introduction to the scenario, and an overview of my strategy. Next one should be the first night of battle – which I will enter shortly!

Looks very nice!

One thng I would be interested in is how long each 8 hours of game time takes you to play.

We are playing on slowest speed (always) and we were able to play about 8-game-hours in 2-realtime-hours. EricGuitarJames has a time out on his internet hook up at 2-hours. This is a big scenario so it is a bit slower.

As stated above - should be paid by Matrix for this - such a good promotion of it's game!!

I'm ALMOST giving in!!!

Man, I feel like I ought to pay £5.00 for that entertainment - and the battle hasn't even bloody started yet!

Great Job Gary ... looks like you have currently made the best of a royal mess. Half those troops are of such quality that they only use they have is absorbing ammo as they die. [:D]

Curious where the 505 went to, you should not have been allowed onto that ridge at all. 1st & 2nd Bn should have made swiss cheese out of those low caliber troops you sent in, tired or not. Guess they were pulled back for some R&R, but it gave you some serious spotting advantages ... This reminds me of the exact mistake I made in Tyne with you ... pulled back just a little TOO far, letting you get a sighting unit in for your Arty [:(]

You are far too good to let you ever get a spotting unit into place [:D]

I'm here.

Damn, as much as I dislike proprietary formats and most Microsoft products altogether, I have to reckon that your work on this AAR is impressive. As usual.

For sure, it does not render correctly under Mozilla, it looks like M$ forgot to release the plug-in for the competition. And a webmaster cannot count on the fact that people will have $$$$ office software to view its content. Whatever. I'd be pleased to host this.

To Bil H : please, do not encourage the guy to go more deeper into the way of non-standard stuff. [;)]

Now I'm trying to go through all of it, without forgetting the work of Eric.

Microsoft has a whole series of standalone viewers for all their products that is $free$ for exactly that reason.

You can get them here ( http://office.microsoft.com/search/resu ... 0331121033 )

Having dealt with Netscape vs IE for years with each one's perks and pitfalls, I can honestly tell you that 98.1% of the planet reads the web these days with the Microsoft flavour. I have the web stats to prove it [;)]

Consider that I don't want to be like 98.1% of the planet for certain matters. [;)] My choice of games tends to prove it as well. OTOH, I reckon you're 100% right.

Now, as Dave said : on to the fight
We want more guys !

I have run out of space on my ISP - anyone able to host the next batch until Jef gets things up at the drop zone?
