Any idea when updated screenshots will be available showing the "pieces" on the board? I'm curious to see how units will be represented on the map, as well as a list of the different types of units available.

Any idea when updated screenshots will be available showing the "pieces" on the board? I'm curious to see how units will be represented on the map, as well as a list of the different types of units available.

Hopefully sometime next month. Units are:

Infantry
Militia
Mechanized
Airborne
Flak
Artillery
Figther Air
Tactical Air
Heavy Air
Carrier Air
Carrier Fleet
Heavy Fleet
Light Fleet
Sub Fleet
Transport Fleet
Supply

Infrastructure Items:
Factory
Resource
Population
Railroad

Railroads -- fantastic. I assume the effect is to allow, for example, the Soviet player to quickly move Siberian reinforcements to the front lines?

Yes, movement over rail and transport fleet chains is strategic movement and is unlimited. However you can't combat strategic movement and tactical combat movement in the same turn. There is limited rail capacity as well which when using advanced supply rules where you have to move supplies becomes a critical factor in Russia (for both sides). Railroads are destroyed as areas are captured so supplies must be expended to repair them. This is where the game differs greatly form A&A and gives players tough choices to make.

Got it -- from the map alone, it seems much more in depth than A&A, and the use of railroads and supply (rather than just taking your income and buying your units) seems to confirm that assessment.
