Overlapping net games

Shadow Paladin and I played a net game (our two squads vs an AI squad) that was interrupted by a crash of my computer. I was hosting. I saved all the net save files and the team files.
The next day I played a LAN game against a friend, so the net autosave was overwritten.
Today, I reloaded all the files from the game with Shadow Paladin .. but when we tried to restart, the game froze. The clock is counting up in ten sec increments, but otherwise no action.
Is there any way of saving, storing and reloading more than one net game?

Yes. But not for autosaves. If you save a netgame to any standard slot and don't overwrite the save you should be able to reload. Its important that host AND client don't overwrite as the clients savegame is stored locally on his computer. If you didn't overwrite you should be able to load. If the queue is out of sync (time is running) the host can try 'R' to resync.

(Unfortunately, in the game we lost, I'd saved the initial state of the battle in a named file, but the break in the game came unexpectedly, so I had to rely on the autosave.)
If the host makes a named save, how is the corresponding file on the client machine named?

Save games are in the data/saves folder and numbered by there slot - 1. The appendix is .net for netgames, .hot for hotseat games and .sol for solitary games.
Expl.: The autosave (slot 1) of a netgame is named save0.net on host and client.
