Supplies

This maybe a stupid question... Supplies. If I have an enemy force surrounded are they getting re-supplied? How do I know they are cut-off? Part of my strategy in some of the longer games is to surround and seige the enemy force. In the Nijmgen Grave Grab scenerio, I let the enemy (Axis) take the Grave Highway objective when they made a strong push then sandwiched them between my force holding the other bridge and my reinforcements from the south. Needless to say, they were crushed [:D]. I ended up fighting to a draw. Another 12 hours and I would have had a decisive victory.

HTTR, the latest game in the series released, uses a basic supply model. Units are resupplied at 03:00 daily. You cannot cut supply lines. Although besides loosing or using supplies through combat, routing units may abandon some of their heavier weapons.
A much more sophisticated supply model is due for inclusion in a future game which is part of the series.
I hope that helps.

deadman,
Before letting the ennemy take an objective to be able to crush it later, check the objectives.
Most objectives (if not all) in Grave Grab are for "occupation". It means you (and your opponent as well in this case) receive points during the game for occupying the objective. If you leave it for a moment, "on purpose", you lose points and he wins some.
Moreover, this scenario, unlike most of them, does not award any point for ennemy destruction.
So, maybe you'd better have defended your objectives at all cost.
JeF.

Jef,
Thanks for the info. I actually didn't know that the enemy received points for holding the objective during that scenerio. At least they didn't hold it for very long. I guess you can say they held the objective because they had no place to go.

It would be great to see supplies included in the game to a larger degree where you need to protect your supply lines (sort of like Korsun), but given that at the moemnt HTTR flows beautifully it might slow it down a bit much to keep it more real time based (as it were).
Sometimes i like to play the goad game and let the enemy take a position and, before they can fortify, launch a multi-pronged attack. Of course this is all when i'm confident it'll be quickly resolved so i can get back to scoring points

The next game will include complex supply model "brodieman", so you will have to keep supply lines open and convoys protected.
