I'm back!!!!

It's been a while, though I've seen milo around sb.com once in a while.... anyway, a few years ago me and someone else that used to watch this regularly were actually trying to make our own campaign, but at the time there were several major bugs preventing that. Well, I became extremely busy, then moved, then up until now did not have a computer capable of running starshatter... but now I do. :)

Anyway, it's nice having an integrated mission editor, so you don't have to do everything by code (mostly figuring out coordinates... argh!) Anyway a few questions about the new version and the mission editing:

I set the enemy ships to IFF 1, while mine are on 0, but 1) my ships phalanx guns won't fire on their own, 2) the enemy ships won't fire on me at all unless I specifically set their objective to attack me, and 3) even when I set it as an objective, my friendly vessals will say they're attacking, but they'll only fly close to it and circle, but won't fire at all. [&:] Oh, and the other enemy ships I'll have defending one ship... won't do anything either, even when I attack them they won't fight back.

Also, how does the "event" thing work? Like how do I set an event to cause the failure of a mission, or success?

And finally my last question is: are the lists of destroyers and different frigates and such linear? As in, the ships at the top of the list are the most powerful of that class and the ones at the bottom the weakest?

Set your own side to 1 and enemy to 2. That should work. 0 (white) is considered as neutral when 1 is considered to be player side in SP. I think player may have what ever number except 0 if you want make mission where player fly unarmed ship (freighter) which don't get attacked.

Well, here's what it says in the Starshatter Player Manual, Chapter 9 Mission Editor:
IFF Identification Friend or Foe. This is the team number for the element. All elements with the same IFF code will work together. IFF codes are displayed on the HUD using the following color scheme:

0 – White Non-Combatant
1 – Blue Alliance
2 – Red Hegemony
3 – Yellow
4 – Green
5 – Violet
6 – Aqua
100 – Gray Unmanned or abandoned units

IFF codes 1 - 6 are mutually hostile. IFF code 0 is non combatant, but will treat units with IFF 1 as allies and units with IFF 2 - 6 as enemies.

I should also mention that I liked the old shield effects a lot better, where we'd see it glow around the ship - now it's just a blue flash where it's hit.

The shield texture still glows, just in an area around the hit rather than around the whole ship. Sometimes its hard to see due to the blue flash, esp w/ default shield texture.
