Command Load relief - Question on Reattaching Units

I am finding that my command load at the top level is getting too great. Most from too much micro management of my troops defensive deployment. Is there a way to reattach them to thier parent unit, but keep them in place. There does not seem to be a in-situ button for the reattach order.

"There does not seem to be a in-situ button for the reattach order"

According to the manual, and if I don't misunderstood, either you reattach the unit to the parent HQ, and the HQ will replace the unit, or you keep it under your command, and you choose its exact location... [;)]

Sorry for my rough english

Order you HQ to use in-situ defense then reattached unit when it is in position.

I think you'll find it's the other way on.
If your HQ has, for example, a defend position:
1 Reattach the units
2 Give the HQ another defend order
3 Define the defend as: in-situ
Hope this helps.

Thanks that seems to be working. [&o] Maybe I can get my order delays down to a managable level.

I use the technique madmickey describes. Give the HQ a Defend In-Situ, then when the HQ has finished processing, reattach the subordinate.

Also make certain that the unit is deployed in the right direction & formation before you reattach. Also note that that when unit retreat when unit is under in-situ it stays in new position. If you want to move it back to old position give a separate move and then reattach later. In urban area you may want to move each company separately then reattach to take maximum advantage of defensive bonus.
