ok...impressed, very nice...just what i`ve been looking for to replace the catastrophe that FS2 scp has become...

while playing the carrier training mission, i`ve noticed real mouse slowdown in the orbital view (i`ll get a joy as soon as the retail is out)...i am also unable to package 2 fighters as instructed for the assault...escorts lauch fine, but at the 2 new select, assault arliss and choose loadout, only the alert button is active...any ideas...

great graphics..i`m looking forward to the whole show...

You cannot package a strike against any target for which the range is unknown. If you don't know where the target is, you can't create a flight plan to get there, can you? [:)] Once the enemy freighter has jumped into your sector, it should show up on your sensors and the assault package button should light up.

If the target is in your sector, but you still don't have a good sensor return on it, try launching a probe* in the general direction of where you think the target is hiding. You can also direct one of your fighter patrols to scout that area, or ask a destroyer escort to do so. Once the destroyer is pointed in the right direction, you can use the right-click context menu to order her to launch a probe. The launch probe command is under the Sensors submenu along with the EMCON settings.

*To launch a probe yourself, press the F6 function key or click the "P4" indicator in your sensor MFD.

Don't know why you are getting such a noticeable slowdown in orbit cam. You're not the only one who has reported this. What kind of system are you running?

Anybody know where the enemy carrier is in the highlands campaign? In Jallah theres an enemy station and the Wolf destroyer group, in Meridian theres the Kendra destroyer group near the observatory, in Trellis past the minefield theres the Kitts destryer group. I don't know if these are the 'actual' names of the enemy groups. Any help finding the carrier group would be great, thanks.

You won't be able to fight the enemy carrier groups in the Demo version of the vampaign.

Moreover, you cannot rely on any particular enemy combat group remaining in one spot. Some of them are scripted to stay in a certain area, but others are free to roam wherever their strategic AI directs them.

I did notice that some of them moved around a bit, but I was still able to find them pretty consistently. One of my destroyers jumped randomly into Jalah and happened upon the Carrier group and so I sent stormhawks out to get one of his destroyers, then got distracted with fending off fighters headed from their space station, when they came back (don't know if they actually got the destroyer in question) i had lost sensor contact and then couldn't find any of the carrier's group again, like they jumped to another system. What I had planned to do was to get all the escorting destroyers and frigates then end the mission, transfer to the destroyer group, and find the carrier again and fire my lasers and stuff into his launch bays since they seem to be unshielded on any given ship that has them.

Oh sure you can.

In fact I've done it twice.
The first time I was practicing "Deaths daring stunts" which involved charging one orion class carrier side-on, pulling up and then over the top to put its giant body between myself and its 4 escorts trying to turn my destroyer into scrap metal.
Unfortunately I mysteriously blew up just as I issued the order to dive down the other side, I think some fighters had been scrambled and used their anti-ship missiles of death on me...

The second time I took the rest of the group with me and they all promptly tagged along about 20k behind...
First X-Ray blast on the carrier must have hit shields system as they dropped from 60% to ~12% and the carrier went boom not long after :)
In the meantime my PDB's had damaged an enemy destroyer by 40% (??) and my escort had promptly got itself blown up...

But yes they do wander around in-sector, if you do random jumps into Jalah you won't find them instantly unless you get lucky.
The carrier group stands still, and if you attack the station eventually a swarm of fighters turns up from the carrier to get rid of you.

The destroyer group moves around, as evidenced by me jumping in right into the middle of it one time... they were spread out enough that I actually managed to destroy them all too, then found the carrier group not far away but left before engaging (9% hull too low to fight).

Oh, well, I suppose the rebel carrier group is there. I didn't think the Goliath model was included in the demo. (Maybe it isnt?)

you can't fight the Hegemony group, tho. Hehe.

If I had to guess, it would be that Windows ME is evil.
