Just saw Korsun Pocket in GAME store for £4.99!!
I realise this must be a steal for a turn based fan - so just giving the heads up.

UNfortunately such "dumping" is why we will not be using the retail channel much in the future. Buying a game at such a price means we get virtually nothing.

I think it shows how niche this market is (strategy war gaming). I often see strategy war games reduced in price much sooner than their FPS counterparts.
Up until Battlefield Vietnam came out, Battlefield 1942 was full price - at 2 years old! Same with Medal of Honour. It depends, not on the genre, but on how well something sells.
I went to the same GAME store a couple of weeks after CMAK came out and it was down from £29.99 to £19.99!!
Pity - some of the best gaming is to be had in strategy - well, if you like strategy!! [:D]

But you do get something, right? Most of those that buy it at that price might not have bought it from your web-store. And it does increase your potential future consumer base, right? I bought Titans of Steel at retail for half the price it lists on the Matrix E-store site. And since then I've become a Matrix convert, buying four more titles at higher prices and even one direct download.
It's not as completely gloomy as you paint it.

Yes thats true.. I think. There is no argument that having a game on a retail shelf has far greater potential sales then not having one on the shelf.

Absolutely Rob, you can't impulse buy on the web and holding the product is half way to owning.
I wouldn't be owning HTTR, CMBO or Strategic Command if I hadn't seen them on the local shelves. KP is another story but I wouldn't have bought that game over the web.
All my HPS titles I've bought, came mail order from Vortigern via phone call or off the shelf at Mil Sims.
Thing is, if DB Normandy looks good and David can make it a downloadable purchase, I may go that way... If the only option is by way of disc though, I wouldn't buy it over the web internationally. I'll wait for retail. However, if there is a printed manual I would expect a good discount with the download if it doesn't contain a free mailout of the book.
Adam.

Almost all of our games will be available for Digital Downloads so you can look and buy at the same time in most cases.

Well David, you've got a Normandy sale (looking forward to Panther's Bulge too).
I was very impressed with the ease of downloading Campaigns on the Danube. Very smooth service indeed.

I got my copy for 19.99 (pounds) but that was because they had mispriced it and had to sell it to me at that price instead of the normal 29.99

We will see nothing from that sale... or better said less then a dollar and SSG even less. Ninty percent of all Matrix Games titles will be sold only via our store. The only other title this year we are considering to release this year into retail is World At War.

Hi David
Isnt there a minimum price you get for a sale of say KP from a company such as GAME (dont they pay for the games they stock on their shelves untill they are sold?) it seems weird that they can mark the price at 99p (about half a us dollar i think) and you get far less back than it cost to produce.

I would have thought GAME would buy the items in bulk and if they sell it off chap then they lose out.
Surely worldwide you cant keep track on every single game and how much it sold for.
Ive just bought HTTR from you over the net.
My main compliant is you should advertise that the price is pre VAT. As my game went from 29.99 to 38.75 after VAT and delivery. Thats nearly a ten pound increase. I didnt know until my order was completed. I thought it would be 29.99 plus the delivery.
I do understand you cutting out the middle man but it doesnt seem right that they pay you whatever they sell the individual game for. Do they send you the receipt? Also surely they have a contract on how much per game they pay you. Otherwise they could sell all your games worldwide fro a pound and not pay you for them. Seems very odd.

really?!
Strange way of doing business. Why not charge GAME or any other retailer once they have recieved you games. Then its up to them what price they sell it at.

The only way I know of being protected from sales outside the USA being to low is to get a large advance on the product before you ship it into the market place. Then you just forget about getting any more money, because you won't.
