What is the most realistic order delay setting?

Post by Fallschirmjager »

Whenever I played RDOA I always used regular. In my thinking I thought regular was what would best correspond to real life while the two settings above it were to make the game more difficult.
My question is...what is the setting that realisticly models real life orders delay?

Based on the word of beta-testers/military veterans, that would be PAINFULLY REALISTIC. Actually, even PAINFULLY REALISTIC may be somewhat toned down in an effort to balance totally reality versus game play. PAINFULLY REALISTIC works for me. In the upcomming patch, the delays will appear to be somewhat reduced due to some coding changes which compute them. From what little testing (not comprehensive) I did on this, it might be in the area of 10-20% reduction.

Ahh
So I was wrong, wouldnt be the first time

I would actually like to see an orders 'failure' dimension added to the game. Where if you give an order to a unit it never receives it. Sort of like sending out a runner and he gets lost or killed on the way. Or if your using radios they screw up and your messege never gets through.
Missenterpriting orders would also be quite fun since this happens quite a bit in real combat. Giving an order to a unit and it messing it up would add quite a bit of spice to the game [;)]

I think we humans mess up our own orders quite enough without having the AI add to our blunders[:)]. Plus we've always got the little bugs and glitches in the coding (and I'm sure we'll find a few more even after the next patch) to deal with.[:)]

If we added that, it would get reported as a bug. No kidding.
