Found this over at BF, and while it is a very simple little game, might turn out to be an addictive amusement :)

I think it is worth a try (I did).

I downloaded the demo and gave it a try.

You know what?

It is a simple, but enjoyable game.

In fact, you have to wonder why no one has come up with this idea before?

Who would have thought [:D]

Played the demo.

A good little game, a very good one if you have kids and want them to get into strategy games.

If it had just a few more gameplay options I would buy it out right.

Wow, who would have thought Battleship Chess would get a nod from the likes of Les_the_Sarge_9_1?

I wrote Battleship Chess as a kind of Solitaire for wargamers. Nothing too deep, just alot of replay value when you have a few minutes to waste. I'm really hoping that it will appeal to more casual gamers.

Wodin, what are some of the gameplay options that you'd like to see?

FYI, the demo is canned, the AI will play out the same moves if you do. The full version isn't, each game is like shuffling a deck of cards.

I think I am pleased that my name carries so much weight heheh.

Or at least it sometimes seems that way :)

But suffice it to say, Battlefield chess appears to be a straightforward honest little game.

Took me a few playings just to beat it, so it isn't some lame no thought required diversion either. Against another thinking player you better have some sort of strategy in mind.

As it currently stands, all that stands between me and buying this, is just locating money and not having anything else bigger demanding those same funds.

As it stands, I can't seem to fault this modest little program.

I am happy if my comments matter to any reading them though hehe.

Nice interface, cool idea.

Don't know if I like it tho'. I've played both sides on the standard setting, and while I cause no damage at all (mostly), the computer has no trouble sinking my ships in two shots. All penetration and critical damages. [:@]

There's something funky with the damage model. Plus a weird thing - if one of your ships is sunk in an action zone (speed, sight, ammo), you lose your turn when it goes down.

Just tried the demo and found it really good.

Didn`t really have the problem that Belisarius said about the AI sinking my ships in few shots!

I`m going to try an introduce it to my 12 year old[:)]
