disappearing units

I have owned UV since it was released. I have all the patches. I stopped playing it, as my base units keep disappearing in transport. Whenever I attempt to transport a base unit from the middle of the game on, my base units disappear upon arrival. Whether I transport them by air or by ship, once they arrive and off load, the unit is not at the base, but is back at its orginal base in full strenght on the following turn. Is there some method to transport base units to a new base once you get past the middle of the game? This problem did not occur in the begining of each game.

Weird. In two years of constant playing I have never seen this. A couple of times IJN units disappeared completely, but never just teleporting back to where they started. I've played to late 43 several times. Can you be more specific? Scenario? Side? PBEM? AI?

I have been playing since UV first came. In every battle once the Japanese are down to only Rabaul, Kaveig, and Truk, I start to lose my ability to move base units. When I transport them either by air or by fast transport, upon arrival at any base, the unit disappears. The unit reapppears in full strenght in one to two turns at its orginal base: Brisbane or Nomea. This occurs in the long scenario when playing the US. Any idea?

I see a glimmer here. If these base units are only sub-units and the part of the unit bearing the designation of the full-strength unit remains at the point of origin, the game will work behind your back to re-unite the sub-units with the parent formation. You won't see them being transported, but back they will come.

I suggest that you try to transport only whole units and see what happens.

I could be completely wrong, of course, but hey...

I must admit I'm clueless here. I thought what Pasternaski said has to do with fragments of air units, not ground units, but try it. What the heck?

No, I was definitely talking about ground units. You see it all the time. For example, in a recent game, I airlifted a 7th Aussie brigade from Cairns to Port Moresby. Everything went but a single 81mm mortar that was damaged. No matter what I did, my C-47s would not pick up that last mortar (and its two crewmen) and fly them to PM. After a few days, I looked in at Cairns and - presto - the mortar was gone. I clicked on the troops at Port Moresby and, sure enough, that last mortar and crew were present.

My long time friend and I have been very disappoonted in the bugginess of v 2.3, but my first real suprise was when one of my IJN headquarters appeared in Noumea for no reason at all. Philadelphia experiment like. Too bad the whole Army didn't show up with it!
