Aircraf identification at bases

When I recon an enemy base I'm given generical info on the number of 'Fighters', 'Bombers' and 'Auxiliary' planes based there.
It's easy to suppose that Fighters and Fighter-Bombers are labelled as 'Fighter' and Level Bombers are 'Bombers', but what about other classes?
Are they all 'Auxiliary'?
Sorry but I can't find it on the manual.
Thank you in advance for the reply.

HI,
it would be nice if the bombers figure could be broken down into single-/twin- and 4-engine bombers. This info can make a huge difference.

It seems to me that dive bombers, torpedo planes and fighter-bombers are all auxiliary.

If AdmLaurent is right I need to take a piece out of Rabaul and soon.
The current game is going well, I've just extended to Rendova and have most of NG in hand. But I am not Deeply Concerned about the numbers I'm seeing at Rabaul and Shortlands.

Sorry for diging an old thread, but I cannot find this information either, and it seems this guy is right.
Could someone confirm me what auxiliary are on a base, because I cannot believe the Japanese to have 100+ of just recon/transport/patrol aircrafts on Rabaul...
Thanks,
Cat

This is a good question. I did some "research" but I was unable to get a final conclusion. But, as far as I know:
1) If there is a CAP over the base, CAP fighters are not included in the generical information.
2) Recon planes usually make a mistake in distinguishing planes:
Examples:
-Rabaul
Recon indicates: 16 Fighters, 22 Bombers, 11 Aux
Present aircraft: 35 bombers (Nells and Betties), 35 Zeroes
-PM
Recon indicates: 38 fighters, 33 bombers, 48 aux
Present aircraft: 33 P39, 15 SBD, 16 Hudson, 9 PBY
So it is difficult to get a rule [&:]. But I need more examples to study!

Don't forget FOW as well. I think you have to recon a base many times and keep your altitude low to get an accurate picture of what is really there.
