Fast Transport Evacuation Bug

In the near two years of playing UV, I have come across a few bugs, but this one is the worst I have experienced.

I was evacuating Efate after a losing defence.

I evacuated the 5th Regiment (or so I thought). A ship in the TF was sunk by the IJN and showed the message "rescuing soldiers from 5th Marines".

I opened up the turn, and no Marine regt loaded on the FT, at Noumea, or left at Efate either.

The next turn I had 4 TFs picking up two Bdes and a partial regt.

This time, the units were shown as loaded on the TFs in the port.

I attempted to unload them.

The next turn came, and no trace of the units.

Any clue as to why this happened?

My opponent has been gracious enough to replay the turn, but with no effect. about 8,000 load points of LCUs "disappear".

These points were on Fast transport TFs at the start of the turn and then disappear.

No other fragements exist elsewhere.

I am going to try one more thing before submitting the turn to Matrix for examination. Anyone seen this before, and have any idseas on what causes it?

I've seen this happen a couple of times. The common factor is orphaned units. Was the ship torpedoed carrying an entire unit, or sharing the load with other units. If it was sharing, then the remaining portion of the unit is orphaned, even if it doesn't show up on the ground forces list.

As to them reappearing, check the actual load of the ship. I've had a ship loaded with a unit, only to go to the detail screen and find no troops were actually onboard. Sort of a "reserved" space.

Did you check the reinforcement track and see if the unit reappears there?

Good luck [:)]

The orphaning piece is probably what happened to another regiment evacuated 2 turns prior. A ship from that FT TF was torpedoed as it returned to Noumea. It probably resulted in the 1/5th Marines fragment going down, and the remaining fragments destroyed in a Japanese attacjk.

But these units were still existing on board the TF at the end of the turn. Not ghosts, but actual loads (squads, equipment and suppport). And all the 1/unit fragments were there as well.

As of the turn they were on the transports, they did not appear in the reinforcement schedule.

I have seen the fragment piece, but seeing a 1535 AP fragment of the 182nd Infantry Regt disappear from Noumea as well was more than I have seen in two years of play.

This is severe and hope it can be corrected. I do not think I survive this loss this early as the Allies in a SC 19.

Hi Harvey, I have allready seen this several times.

The worst of it had been an IJN regiment that was repulsed from Irau to Bia (the other side of the island) and was in a bad shape. I sent several FT TF missions, one every 3 days, and pick up 90% of the unit. Then US CV appear in the area and I let the rest on the island. The USN LCU didn't come for the kill and a month later I sent some DD pick up the last men (disabled support squads mostly). At this time, the rest of the regiment was resting since 25 days in Truk and was recovering.

As soon as my FT TF arrives off Bia, both the troops in Bia and Truk disappear... ANd none of my ships hab been sunk or even hit. So go figure.

A variant some days agao in another IJN game. I had a small base force in Rabaul and wanted to bring it to Kavieng, where I had CL and DD. I sent a FT TF but next turn, there was still no base force in Kavieng but an ART unit instead (or part of it). In fact this unit has been on the front in New Guinea, and was badly missed there.
