Hi,

Well, I don't know if I'm 100% correct, but as far as I know, the meanings are as follow:

daitai - batallion
chutai - company or squadron
koku tai - air group (navy).

Hope it was some kind of help to you.

By the way, I would like to say hello to everyone, as it is my first post on Matrix's forums[:)]

quick and dirty guide:

Shotai = element/section (usually 3 plane element)
Chutai = unit (usually 9 planes 3 x Shotai)
Datai = "group"/squadron (usually around 27 planes or 3 x Chutai (9)

Kokutai (sometimes listed as Koku tai) = Japanese land based naval air group
