Milo a couple requests

I"m sure you love these hehehehe


Anyways, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to fire the info our way needed to build a dynamic campaign, these seems like a ton of work, but something VERY cool about starshatter and something we want to explore:)

Could you have a look at the turrent code, maby its just something i'm doing, but I"m still getting a massive fps drop on all ships when I use turrents, a ship that gets 75 fps normally(the liberty) will drop to like 30 if I use 3 turrents, is that normal?

thanks, keep up the good work, 390 is amazing to play, I love all the new little sfxs

oh ya, one more thing(duck) I"m assuming the explosions are just a series of pcx files you run like an animation, any chance of us making our own(I could be wrong on how they are built tho lol)

Well, how many polys are on one turret/how many polys is the ship? If by adding the turrets you are doubling/tripling number of polys, then that would explain it. Otherwise, i wouldnt guess that the code to do turrets (are they articulated?) would drain so many FPS.

I've done ships with ~sixteen articulated turrets and several missile launchers.

I do one with 3 and I get 20 fps
I really dont know What I'm doing wrong

Here are the stats for the liberty


The Ship is 2072 polys
It uses two 1024 textures
The glows are setup on differnt mag files,

detail_3: "THRUSTER.mag"
detail_3: "THRUST.mag"
detail_3: "SPOT.mag"
detail_3: "L2.mag"
detail_3: "L1.mag"
detail_3: "N2.mag"
detail_3: "N1.mag"
detail_3: "HIGH.mag"
feature_3: 3

Anything with glow is a different file, if I combine then it screws everything up, they all combine to about 200 extra polys so around 2200 for the whole deal

the turrents are 100 polys, base and gun.

and like I said, 3 will cut me to 20-29 fps from 75 -80

Have you tried just adding like 6 turrets to a plain old box?

Maybe it's the glows.
