Is there a way to run UV without the cd in the drive?
Whenever I go for a break, the darn cpu "recycles" when it detects no activity for a while and by the end of an afternoon,I end up with 3 or 4 "opening screens" running at the same time in the background...
Thank you..[&:]

Once the game is running you can take the cd out of the drive. The cd is only required for startup of the game

Use a virtual drive and make a virtual image of the UV disc.
Voila, no more need for a cd in the drive..

I would suggest you get a fixed or cracked exe, and replace the current game one.
The game will run without the need for a cd.
I suggest that you do a search online for it.

Gamecopyworld provide no-cd cracks. Found it convenient to cut down drive noise and swapping disks everytime I had online go of BFV. Really hope you own the original though.

That's what I use (the noCD crack from Gamecopyworld). Been running it for some time with zero problems (version 2.3).
I use cracks for all my games because I hate hunting around for CDs when the mood strikes me to play a different game. But I own all the games I play (except one, but that's a special case).
Matrix being a small company - and a quality company (unlike many I could mention) - deserves our support.

Thank you all for the suggestions.Btw..I only have 2 games that require me to have the cd in at beginning and I was hoping to avoid the minor hassle of checking the drive to see which was in.
(UV and Fighting Steel, which recently got a MAJOR upgrade!)..[:D]
Like you folks,I own my MatrixGames products because I don't "bite the hand that feeds me",and seemingly all the other companies have deemed us wargamers too small a market for their time..Very glad SSG and Matrix are working together..

Where did you go to get that upgrade to Fighting Steel? Always a fun game though buggy as heck. Very poorly supported.

A word of warning. Using CD cracks such as the ones downloaded from CDcopy world can load you computer up with a hellish amount of spyware. If you are not current on spyware blocking, you are asking for trouble.

This is one reason I always avoid anything that wants to unpack this that or the other thing, here there and everywhere.
Most CD cracks only need to be a minorly tweaked version of the core executable. So you should be just downloading a ZIP (or TAR) file with just the hacked exe, and usually a small informational text file, and nothing else.
Always, ALWAYS have a copy of the original core executable (rename to XXXXX.org or something) and then copy in the replacement exe. If anything seems funny, delete the cracked exe, and rename the original back to XXXXX.exe, and carry on.
And of course, it is always best to practice safe computing. [:D]
Have a firewall of some nature (which will usually warn you if some dumb ass app is trying to head out as spy ware), and a virus scanner.
I'm surprised I've never heard of an internet security app called the 'CompuCondom' or something.
