Okay here goes:

Had UV patched to 2.20. It ran most of the time but I often got a message telling the wrong disk was inserted (it wasn't).

Installed Patch 2.30 and everything went wrong - continual wrong disk message followed by error message and programme terminating.

Uninstalled the lot through Add/Remove.. but didn't check Windows Explorer to see if all files had gone.

Re-installed UV (bought it as version 2.0) and ran it to see if it woprked as 2.0.

Works fine but says it is version 2.30!!!!! Check Windows and all the update files are there ie pdf files explaining what patches have done.

Have I really got v.2.30 running? [&:]

BTW closed all background programmes except Explorer and Systray before re-installation

Cancel some of the above - I'd put some files in a different place so they didn't uninstall.

But my version still reads 2.30 - does this correlate with the patch - surely it can't.

CANCEL ALL OF THE ABOVE:

Just realised original program installs in Program Files/Matrix Games/Uncommon Valour

Patches install in just C: Matrix Games etc.

Why?

Even if I put them allin the same file tree I am now just getting "Wrong Disk Inserted"

No it isn't - it used to work

Any ideas anyone??

I always let the program decide where to put it when installing.......so I don't have to remember later.

My game, everything installed in C: matrixgames/uncommonvalor....etc.

uninstall everything then install the disk to the default location.

Then use True update to do the patches. You will need to run it 4 times (one for each of the patches)

I would also recommend that you run scan disk and defrag your hard drive before you reinstall UV.

Later,
