I'm looking for some new titans epecially in the recom and assault classes that are 'significantly differnet' from the ones that are in the database. I've already looked over all the one's that's been posted in the forums... so if any of ya'll are holding out or any lurkers out there... now's the time. [;)]

Also if anyone just wants advice on a design just post it and we'll be glad to offer advice/comments.

Hand of Glory:
One of my favourites for near and close combat; the random damage of the SRMs combines well with the local impact of the Power Axes. Its only failing is that the legs can't be armoured as well as the rest of the body, due to space restrictions.

It is difficult to design significantly different Recons because there's just not much you can fit into them.

Cool, looks like I'm going to have a busy day[;)]

That should be enough recons...What I'm really in need of now is Assaults and 1-2 heavies, but will keep my eye out for ANY good/'unique' titan in whatever wieght class.

It is difficult to design significantly different Recons because there's just not much you can fit into them.

hehe.. tell me about it[:D] Assaults are just as bad, but in the other extreme, they already have everything. But I'm sure there are still a few designs out there that will fit the bill.

This design has popped up from several people, that must be telling me something[;)] As for the armor on the legs.. Drop the HR by 1 level and switch the leg armor to Millenia, you'll end up with more armor points and a slightly better cooling rate.

Cool! Thanks.. That does it for my assaults. Only thing left that I'm looking for is 2-3 good/'significantly different' heavies.. If I can get 3, I can get rid of the Stonewall... grrrr I die almost everytime I get in that thing and love to see the AI get it... never could get it to work the way I intended[:@]... anyway... If ANYONE has some heavies for me that would be great.

Weapon Combo is based once again on the Recon Will o' Wisp. I just happen to love that Titan-AT... anyway So yeah, the usual stuff. This Titan is meant to play a long range support. Not much AP, I put some more into the limbs for Punching and Kicking, maybe a DFA or two as well. Doesn't have a lot of ammo, but reloads take a while anyway so just keep scanning. Heat regs are fine as long as it's not moving around at all. With the shield up and jumpjets and firing weapons, it'll meltdown for sure.

Basically a Cannon variant for the Aggressor... Less defense system to trade in for a few extra APs. Seems to have heat problems, still. The pinboard points seem unreliable for this one.

I play tested both designs working together as a team. I got squashed both times. The first time because I was still getting used to using them. The second time, well, poor decision making on my part. The Hinky Punk took too much time finding a good spot to crouch in for a sniping position, so the Ogre took the full blast of two opposing heavies. The ogre managed to bring one of the Heavies into reds, but as soon as the enemy switched target to the Hinky Punk, it didn't take too long to lose.

On a quick glance, they both look a little short on ammo.

About the Aggressor, notice the LLs are meant to make opponent raise shield for the added bonus for the GMEs, and the strong ECM is meant to force him scan a lot again for the bonus.

Thanks, I'm playing around with them a bit, like Iceman said.. skimpy on the ammo. Also heat is a little too warm. A player may be able to handle them but I think the AI would just meltdown. [:D] Ogre can be adapted without too drastic a change to 'designer's intent'; the Hinky pinky thingy looks like it may be a 'bridge too far' just too much of everything going on to make it AI-friendly without being pretty drastically removed from the original design. However you've pointed out a gap in the diversity of the heavies, there were no pure Guided/Cannon titans! (The Halberd is the closest) Your two designs cover 2 basic designs for that type, short-range, big firepower and long-range, support/gradual damage, definately want to cover these in the database. Care to try your hand at another heavy 'Will-'o-Wisp' that the AI might have an easier go with?

For the Hinky Punk, I changed the chassis to G4 to allow for more slots for ammo. No more shield but I raised the ECM a bit. Less AP also. This really really shouldn't be in the front line. I forgot what else I changed... I'm not sure how effective it is as a lone Titan.

This doesn't even look anything like the original Ogre set up. I should've renamed this Titan instead... No more AC20's, uses AC12 instead for a bit more range and ammo. Reduced the number of GME launchers and swapped it for a couple of light meson guns. Lessened the Armor also. Still runs hot, though.

While trying to come up with an different weapon combo (because Thorgrim said the GME's were better with Energy weapons) I tossed in a few Unguided Missiles instead. Looking at my current squad, I noticed that I was lacking anything that could start a quick fire. Anyway Like the Ogre, this one had 2 AC12's and a bunch of other weapons. No shield or DCS. I'd even skip the flares If I didn't have a wee bit extra space and slots... I tend to forget about defensive systems when I play so for my playing style, these guys are probably suited for me. I should run considerably cooler than the Ogre.

As for A.I. friendliness, I don't know about that yet... I had two A.I. fight each other. One was on a random (Sagitta) and the other was on a Hinky Punk. The Hinky Punk barely won because the Sagitta lost a leg first (the Hinky Punk's R Leg had 4 AP left)

For the Ogre:
You'd need a heatreg of about 4.5 to use everything, not counting the EMP. if you ask me, scrap the EMP and either the light mesons or one GME, squeeze a better heatsink on there.

The Orc looks better with heat, will still run hot when using all its weapons but it's liveable. My advice would be to switch the two srm8's with a third nm7 and use the remaining space for either an improved ecm, or a dcs system.

Hinky Punk should work arright by itself if you find a hill. Jump ports are invaluable for this. Looks rather nasty to run into, could probably make short work of a Morningstar given the space it needs.

The new designs gave me a lot more to work with, epecially for the Hinky Punk. found a compromise I liked.. hinky punk (now the Aurora <--(light theme for the Cannon/GMH titans?) 2xGMH4, 2xAC7, 1xAC4. ran fairly cool while squating and stood toe-to-toe with a Bonecrusher who was in the woods just enough to rule out called shots and won (toe-to-toe being 4-5 hexes). Ogre I went with the 2xAC20, 2xGME... heat was ... ok, but damage and manuverability were great.

Lasers do have a better synergy with GMEs then cannons as it puts the enemy in a bind on whether to use a shield or not. The cannon/GME combo just makes the shield deadwieght. All cannons would probably be better, but GMEs pack a nice short-range punch for a small wieght and internal cost... and if the titan beside the Ogre is using lasers... well it all works out.[:D] But it does fill a potential need for a C/GM jock.

That should about do it for my database for now.. got all the wieght classes up to 45 titans in each. Will go over it agian the next couple of days looking for little things and disributions of weapon types and by the weekend I should be happy. I'll likely post a copy this weekend if anyones interested.

Actually, I named the Hinky Punk as it is because it's another name for the Will o' Wisp or Will o' the Wisp. Witch's Lights is somewhat closely related. Ignis Fatuus is latin for Will o' the Wisp and Hinky Punk, I think it was scottish or one of the other British localities' name for it... Aurora sounds nice though.

For the Ogre and Orc, I just followed Coyote's advise and did so...

and the Gnoll there, I just wanted something that had a good shield.

I usually play test these 4 together. They work good as a team. Even as A.I.

Small detail, you might want to swap the Flares with the Scanner in the Ogre, and with the ECM in the Gnoll, so they can be deployed when prone face down.

The Gnoll looks pretty good. Not enough heat to use the laser and all four guns at once, so I'm guessing you'd give priority to the mesons till they run out then switch to the ac7's. I personally don't care for that style myself, I'd use just the two ac7's, possibly HMG's with 20 shots instead, and add in better ecm/dcs. Still it's not a bad design.

The Ogre looks a bit scarier now.
