Just Waiting long Campaign

Although i know my stuff about the long campaign battles is not as interesting as a lot of the pbm battles here. I still had fun in writing them for others to see my progress with the major powers thru the war. I have gotten up to June 1941 for Germany, British, Japan and Russia. I have decided to hold off till the new version is out. I can not see going any further and then having to start it all over. If it was a patch it wouldnt have mattered. But as all indications are it is a full install i will wait. I will then start from 1939 again with all the participants. Actually that wont be too bad tho as i have found out i was lacking in a lot of my core force selections. Things that i needed later on i should have filled out my core with junk to replace. I also hope that the AI does better with there selections against me.

Do you think they were able to key any differences in the way they use there forces. Would be neat to have to fight some infantry in a defend instead a mass of tanks attacking alone. see you all later after i have managed to download another massive time consuming and slow update.

My problem is i am getting very old and tired. I have started the long campaign now about 10 different times. I dont have a lot of time left to complete the war. Just hope i can see the day when all the powers are in the year 1945. I have yet to make it to the year when the USA comes into the war in 1942. Even tho they were actually fighting in 1941 in the pacific.

Robot, a lot of time was spent by the 8.2 team in improving force selections for the AI in various OOBs. You will have the capability to customize these slots to your own liking, so waiting is a good idea. I discontinued my long campaign, but not just for that reason. I already have the updates on my PC, BUT, I will download the new full version anyway, just in case I missed a tweak or two.

The one thing we couldn't do is make the AI "smarter" in play. This would require a major code rewrite, which is why we have the development of "in-house" projects like CA and CL.

As for reading the AARs, I enjoy them. I also enjoy the chance to write a narrative like this, your own "alternative history", if you like. When you do this again, I'd recommend including the force listings from Campaign Watcher, as I did with my "Old Breed" thread. I simply saved the initial core force list, and copied it from the "save" folder in SPWaW.
