ok

the computer im using is VISILY slowing down wen asked to perform an operation

i know that this could be the result of a worm

but could it also be because the parts, processor, motherboard ETC are degrading and breaking down?

as far as i know ive never heard of anything like this happening, BUT, this computer IS almost 7 years old, and it has rarely had any down time, has never been upgraded, and has een heavily used since 1998

is it possible that it is fianlly saying - okay busters, ive had enuff, BUH BYE?

Not necessarily but you should put it down and prevent future sufferring. Don't know what your financial situation is but computers are so cheap now it would be in your best interest to get a new one any way you can.

UV can be played acceptably on a pretty low end machine that can be had for about $250-300. What, exactly, is in your way of getting one?

1. money to buy 1
2. money to build 1
3. the knowledge to build 1

Its got to be cheaper to buy one than to build it plus you get some software and warranty on it. I have an old machine that you could have for free but no way to get it to you. I think its a 386. Is that too slow?

In my opinion in the long run it is better to buy an already built computer, no concerns about hardware compatibilty and warrenties

In my opinion it is better to build than to buy.

1) I built a computer that was in all respects superior to a $2000 Dell machine. I paid $1200 for the components.
2) Putting a computer together is not that hard. Building them gave me the confidence to fix anything that goes wrong them. I can rebuild it from the components if I have to fix something and I can fix it alot faster than a shop can.
3) My brother bought a pair of Dells - he has not been able to expand it because the model he bought didn't have any expansion capability. I have upgraded machines several times - essentially a SLEP program for my computers. All of that was possible becuase I bought components that could be easily expanded.
4) I can tailor the components I buy to the computer I want rather than picking from options some company wants me to pick from.
5) Hardware components have warranties - in some cases warranties better than the ones the maufacturers of complete systems provide.
