Just Got Korsun

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Just Got Korsun

Post by Bill Durrant »

Hi all,

Having been a fan of Matrix and owning SPWAW, EYSA, and UV I've just managed to get Korsun on E-Bay at a bargain price (still trying for 'Highway').

Before it arrives and I get carried away thrusting the CD Rom into my machine and bashing buttons, clicking the mouse etc. - any advice on how I should approach the game ie. best parts of the manual to read, best scenario for beginners etc etc.

Thanks in advance

Start by going through the tutorial.

Go through it twice because everything is there - but not some things only get a fleeting mention.

With a game like KP it´s really recommended to read the full manual. Using the Tutorial guide is giving you a quick grasp on things though also. Have fun.

Bill,

Welcome to one of the best gaming communities around! Think you'll really enjoy KP.

Recommend you read thru the manual at least once (become familiar with the sections and topics covered). Go thru the tutorial (player's guide)... its the other pdf on the cd. Do the tutorial in order at least twice. By that point you should be familiar enough with the system to try one of the smaller scenarios.

My recommendations are Wiking Wipeout or 1st Ukranian Front scenarios (make sure you've downloaded and installed the patches to v1.11 before trying the 1st UK Front scenario). You do have to know whether its the US or Euro version before installing the patches... 2 (in sequence) for US, 1 for Euro version.

Also a good scenario for a new player is the Galipoli battle availabe at run5. Try downloading and adding this battle after the tutorial, patch installation, and Wiking Wipeout/1UK Front.

If you have any difficulty getting thru any of these put a post up here or at the run5 forum. There's great support available from the technical staff and lots of experienced players who will help.
