OK I might be totally stoopid but my ship mods arnt loading. In fact I think Im having a general ship loading propblem.

I downloaded the Yorktown mod to see if it was me that was stoopid but that one aint loading either.

From the log:

Load Mission: 'Mission1.def'
Loading ShipDesign 'Spectre'
Ship Design Radius = 1104.473145
ShipDesign: no catalog entry for design 'Yorktown', checking mods...
Loading ShipDesign 'Yorktown'
WARNING - DataLoader could not load buffer 'Mods/Ships/Yorktown/Yorktown.def'
ERROR: unknown ship design 'Yorktown' in mission 'Mission1.def'
ERROR: invalid ship design for element 'EAS Yorktown' in 'Mission1.def'
Mission Loaded.

The game is installed in

D:\Program Files\Destroyer Studios\Starshatter Demo

Mods directory is in:

D:\Program Files\Destroyer Studios\Starshatter Demo\Mods

It has Missions (loaded the Mission1.def didnt it;)), Ships and Weapons dirs.

Anyone got a clue?

Thanks
Tex

Are you remembering to use the -filesys command line option?

From the Starshatter Demo Manual, page 55, under the heading Command Line Options:
-filesys Enables the use of unpackaged mods for ship and weapon designs read directly from the file system. This option also disables network play to help prevent cheating.

Without it, the file system will not load.

To use unpackaged mods, as Lord QDaan said, you need to use the -filesys command line.

To do that go to wherever you installed StarShatter, and create a shortcut to the EXE. Right-click the shortcut, and click properties. Then in the "Target" box in the window that pops up, it should show the address of where the SS exe is. Go to the very, very end of that line (After the last "), then add a space and type -filesys.

Then, just run the game by double-clicking the shortcut, rather than the EXE. You can also move the shortcut to your desktop or start menu if you don't want to have to use the Windows Explorer every time.
