Simple......it was getting back on track. Anything else?
This was a baited ban...og lordy lordy lordy
Vic,
YOU WERE THE ONE who took it off topic.
I suggest you back away from your keyboard and think about your responsibilities as a moderator!

I don't understand what was so terrible in the quoted section. Finding a Les troll post isn't difficult, but picking one that was mostly harmless is a little strange

Huh? It was getting
back on track so it was locked? I'm sorry, but the logic of that statement escapes me.[&:]

I think he meant to write "It wasn't getting back on track"...but that's just a guess. [:'(]
Personally I'm willing to bet that this thread will be on its Deathbed Watch shortly...for you are all dancing where Angels fear to tread...let alone community members! [:D]

We all know Les can be seen as a little opinionated. I juts dont think what was said warrants a ban either.
I think this is a grievance carried over from another forum. Which strikes me as unfair.
I dont see many people sticking up for the ban or the lock down.

I really thiink Vic has opened a can of worms here, I hope it does not get out of control, however, if it brings in the Boss to check it, so be it.
No mod anywhere anyhow, should cut a long time member with out the ok from the boss, who in this case, BTW, has done more for MG and the players than the average Mod.
Vic, chill out dude![:D] be happy![8D]
I vote for Les to be reinstated ASAP!
or is this not a members forum?
Hey Les! how many FREE CDs have you mailed out to members that cant DL? oops! thats right you cant read this[8|]
M4 Jess~4901 post! w00t!

The ban was well earned. He went WAY too far in his response to the mod. That attack completely overshadowed whatever came before. A mod is not obligated to take anybody's crap, no matter how long they've been around or how important they
think they are.
Lock down was appropriate as well. The mod said get on track and 3 OT posts followed. It was certainly strict but in bounds IMO.

I really didnt see anything in the thread the warranted banning... I think Les was a little hard done by here.
Fact is les got banned for having a go at Vic and that would never of happened if Vic didnt call Les a troll....... But I cant tell what, where, when Les was trolling.
Once again I think the term troll is out of control.

Hello Everyone
I have reopended the thread and unbanned Les. I feel Les comment was not called for and Vic was a little to fast on the trigger. Guys neither side helped how this worked out so I felt I needed to step in make some adjustments. I ask that everyone please try to handle things with a little more calm. I think everyone has gotten a little short from the AOW days and I like to take us back to a more relexed forum. Also please before replying to something that is a making you upset step back and wait a few minutes before posting. Your points will be no less vaild a few minutes later but how you word the response can be. I ask that no takes my action here tonight as an opening to attack our mods or anyone on this forum .
There is a style and change going on and it requires everyone help to make it happen.
David

AOW = Art of Warfare, I think there used to be a board called that for discussions of 'current events' e.g. arguing

Pretty much like Didz said. It was the Art of Wargaming forum, which apparently was originally created for disgruntled ex-members of Talonsoft's Operational Art of War forum (for their game of the same name), which then evolved/degenerated into the horror that was AoW.[:'(]

A little history lesson for Lester's fan Club:
At the Wargamer fourm some time ago, Les was allowed to moderate the "Modeller's forum". Nothing else, just the modeller's forum. Unfortuantely, in that capacity, he was able to use the moderator's functions on all the Wargamer forums.
Les started out by secretly editing other people's posts at the Wargamer forum to make them look foolish. Sort of like if a moderator here should edit one of your posts to make it appear you had announced you were a gay child molester. For a while, it was a mystery how this was occuring.
Then, the Wargamer NAMB forum being a self policing affair like the old Matrix AoW, Sulla and Vickevlar went long periods without ever checking it out. Les then appointed himself moderator and began deleting posts willy nilly. People would visit that board and find dozens of posts mysteriously missing. This went on for a while, and emboldened that he had gotten away with it, Lester came out of the closet and announced that from now on, the Wargamer was his forum, and he was going to run it anyway he saw fit.
He then began to delete entire threads, as well as any posts questioning his God like ablility as moderator. War commenced. Since he was a moderator and not an Administrer, he could not ban anyone.
Only persons allowed access to the Administrator functions could do that.
He then began to threaten everyone but his few buddies with banning.
In his arrogance, he made the mistake of contacting Sulla, and demanding that Sulla carry through on his threats. Sulla, finally realizing what was happening, relieved Lester of his moderator duties
That's why Les the Sarge is despised by so many of the Wargamer alumni.
