Demo trouble

I downloaded the Starshatter 3.9.0 demo today, but during the installation process (tried it twice) one of the files couldn't be installed properly. The rest of the installation process continued.
When I tried to start the game I saw an error message that the program could not set up the palette. The demo then terminated.
Are these two errors related, and/or what could be going on?

For some reason the installer distribution that Milo used has trouble extracting the file with all the data in it. There are several threads on it, there may be suggestions that can help there. Are you using FAT16 or FAT32? (Just curious). If all else fails, someone can send the .DAT file to you.

Hello,
Thank you for replying. I am using FAT16, and it's an older Win 98 system.

Now this is getting interesting. A lot of people have tried install game to Windows 98 FAT32 system and failed. I have Windows 98 Second Edition with FAT16 and no problem. So I thought problem with others is that FAT32. But since you have FAT16 and can't install... maybe your download is corrupted. Or maybe you think you have FAT16 but may in fact be FAT32.
Note: Maximum size for logical drive in FAT16 is 2 gigabytes. If you have larger logical drives (partitios), it is not FAT16.

FAT16 partition didn't work for me either: neither from nor to FAT16 - guess cause the TEMP was still on a FAT32 partition...
BUT I found a solution that worked for me(even with file 4 installing forever)
Started Win98SE in safe-mode and installed from there and all on FAT32... [;)]

Matti,
Well, now you've got me thinking. I assumed it's FAT16 because all of my partitions are 2 gigabytes. I have two hard drives. One of them is 2 gigs. That's the C: drive. The other one is 10 gigs. It's broken into 5 partitions of 2 gigs each. This is how it set itself up many moons ago when I decided to install a second HD. But, perhaps I'm wrong?
