Just saw this posted at Consimworld... Its a new release from Decision - seems a bit like Pacific War from Victory ( which I loved - if only for the short battle scenarios )

I may buy it ( 70.00 and all ) just for the War Plan Orange Scenarios that it says it has in it covering conflicts in the '30's...

Does anyone know anything about this??

Best,

PS - is it ready yet??

U.S.N. Deluxe . Update of the S&T classic. War in the Pacific, 1941-45 with naval-air-land units, interactive sequence of play, and numerous missions. New rules add Chinese, Soviet and Indian fronts, limited intelligence, strategic bombing. Updated order of battle with armored formations, special forces, Japanese base defenses, and B-29s. Naval units are individual carriers, with squadrons for other ships; air units are squadrons/groups/wings; land units are regiments/divisions/corps/army, with build-up and breakdown. Base building and engineers are critical. Scenarios cover 1941-43, 1943-45, 1941-45, numerous mini-games (Coral Sea, CBI, etc.). Also, a 1930s War Plan Orange scenario, plus optional naval forces. --Joseph Miranda, Michael Myers, redesign.

If Pacific War was a monster this baby sounds like Armageddon!

Actually, this seem to not be an update of the monster, War in the Pacific, but rather a more strategic game, USN, originally published by SPI way back when...likely more manageable than either WITP or Pacific War from VG.

But I have to ask, why bother with WitP computer version almost here, other than to lay out all the maps and counters every few months and just stare lovingly at it all?

(And I'm one to talk, having just fleshed out my OCS collection of titles from The Gamers....)

WITP blows that old game away I'd think. Looks OK but...
