Minefield Clearing

Anybody want to share their tactics for clearing a minefield? I am having some trouble with those missions. To get close enough to whack the mines with anything I get my fighter shot out from under me.
Thanks,
Ken

I use a missile to take out one or two from a distance, then close in, weaving and banking all the way, until I can line up a shot. I then shoot one mine down and go back to weaving and banking until I can line up a shot to the next mine. Repeat until all objective mines are gone.

Rockets and medium range missiles also work well for me, just close range very slowly and carefully, always taking out the closest mines first. Mind you, it took some practice. I try to clear out some of the overlap areas, then direct my wingman to attack the less dense spots. Seems to work well.

Also possible with Delta Cannons. Set flight vector few kilometers off the mine, turn FLCS off, slide, avoid fire with thrusters and shoot back when in effective range. Of course salvos of missiles and rockets first to reduce some mines will help.

Circling.
I always come in doing pitch circles around the mines.
Circling is a great tactics against anything the AI throws at you as it has a very hard time hitting you.
To set up a circle use an angle of aproach of about 45 degrees to the target. When its about to get into gun range pitch up towards the target and start applying downwards thrusters. If the enemy starts to hit you just apply some latheral thrust to make the circle into a cork screw.
