KG-laugi,

Have you tried shutting down anything else that's running and could be using your internet connection? Have you tried a download resume utility like Getright or Download Accelerator?

- Erik

KG,

The phone may be a limited help if I can't see your screen. Let's try a few things here first and I'll call you if they don't work out. First, look at the bottom right of your screen. You should see the edge of the windows bar that runs across the bottom. There should be some small icons there - if you move the mouse over them slowly, chances are they will pop up little identifying text labels. We're looking for anything non-essential. Can you post a list of what you see there? Thanks.

Regards,

- Erik

Ok, nothing really unusual there. The only thing that really makes me think it might affect your connection is a firewall issue, but that seems unlikely. Do you know how to temporarily turn off your Norton Firewall? If not, I can try to walk you through it. Also, please go to this site and download and run the TCP Optimizer you see at the top of the page.

http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

When running it, click on the Optimal Settings button, then click Apply Changes. Do not reboot. Click on the Other Settings then make sure it's also on Optimal Settings, Apply Changes and this time let it reboot. See if that helps with download performance.

Regards,

- Erik

Sounds good. If it aborts on you again, try downloading a download resume utility from either:

http://www.getright.com/

or

http://www.speedbit.com/DAP7/Default.asp?

Yes, this is the silver bullet. I had a regular download using just IE's internal download tool timeout a couple of times. I used GetRight, and finally got the whole thing, even though it resumed 4 times in the process. As busy as the servers are going to be, downloading with a manager is the only way.
