Repair Problem

In my PBEM I have a damage CA sitting in Shanghai harbor now for 2 turns and it has not repaired a single point of damage. The repair yards in Shanghai have 360 repair points, but it just doesn't seem to be doing anything... Am I doing something wrong ?

Did we mention repair is SLOW ??? [:D]

Shangie is just a wee little size 8 port with no repair ships and no Fleet HQ so you are short 7 bonuses to get her repaired.

So repair doesn't occur every day ? I thought the manual mentioned something about that if your at a repair yard... Hmm... I think I have 1 AR right now. Might have to sail to the home islands for some speed.

Repair does happen every day Xargun but that does *not* mean you are going to reduce the damage by a point of SYS every day.

Even with the best possible combination of factors, it can still take well over a year for a BB to get repaired. The bigger the ship, the longer it takes ... although some of the higher durability smaller ships take their time too.

Related questions please.

How much will an AR add to the repair speed ?

In UV I believe you needed supply in the beach hex with the AV, is this also true in WITP ?

The Manual says that PT Boats can only reload in a size 3 port with at least 20,000[X(] supply, ( Pg. 187, is that a typo ? ), or in a hex with a AGP and base with " sufficent supplies" whatever that means. If that`s all correct it will really make the US or British PT`s useless in the Game IMHO.

Up to 4 AR's can aid, each acts like a increase in port size by 1 step.

Same holds true for Fleet type HQ's.

It's not a how much faster thing, it is the bonus added to see if the ship has it's SYS damage reduced by 1.

I'm only at the end of December, but I was going to suggest that repair might be too fast. I've got Seattle knocking down about a point a day on a BB and a CA. Of course those are system points and not flotation - maybe that takes longer. But at that rate, most BBs will be spotless and new within about three months.

will this also effect upgrades for ships like in uv? That is will new weapons take months to install?

for comparison the CVL Hermes starts in Colombo harbor with an HQ, and 10 system hits. After 12 days it is down to 9 system hits. I am not saying anything is wrong with that, just giving the rate.

Maybe I'd better track the rates for a longer period of time before I go shooting off at the mouth. I'm guessing it's important that there are fewer ships being repaired in the port, i.e., all 10,000 fitters in the port are swarming over one ship gets it done faster than if the entire Pacific Fleet shows up looking for some body work and paint.

I have a CA sitting in Shanghai for 4 days with 360+ repair points and it has repaired 1 sys point so far - kindy slow in my opinion - especially since it doesn't seem to be using the repair yard. It has since been sent to the Home Islands (size 10 ports) for faster work.

I thought that whenever the port repaired a point, the port would also expend repair points equal to the ships durability and repair a second point at the same time. I must have read the manual wrong or misunderstood it.. Anyone want to clarify how a repair yard works ?

For what it is worth, in my Turkey Shoot battle, I am getting ready for the end game, and seen that some of my BB's are a little dinged up, so I put them in port with the AR's in it

after two days, while no sys damage has been repaired, a number of shot up guns have been fixed (out of 6 BB's I had 15 AA guns knocked out, only 5 more need to be fixed)

system damage runs from 1 to 9, so was kind of shocked to see all the AA guns knocked out, guess them coastal guns hit pretty good

If you watch a naval battle (or air raid) you will see bombs and shells hitting he capital ships and it will say Deck armor hit - that means the shell / bomb was stopped by the armor - so only surface loses will be suffered.. Now if it say Deck Armor penetration - that means your gonna get a lot more sys damage.

From my limited experience the baby 250 kg bombs the japs have simply bounce off BBs and MIGHT cause a single point of sys damage - if your lucky it will cause a fire - which will destroy some guns, but not really harm the ship.
