Hey Guys,

If some of you out there are like me, then you're fumbling with the production aspects of the game also. If anyone with a better grasp of that side has any specific comments/suggestions/ideas, feel free to share.

Thanks in advance...[:'(]

Hi,

This is after only 3 days of playing but, the production was what i was waiting for in the game so here goes....
Take this with a grain of salt!

In Vehicle, armament & airframes i increased production on most of these that were less than 20 in size. You would think vehicle with its low numbers would be a roadblock, but the block seems to actually be armaments. Feel free to increase a bit more in armaments than in the others.

Change all Nissan air engines to something usefull like Nakajima or Kawasaki.

The game gives Japan more starting merchant shipyards than you need, so do not ever increase those as they will eat heavy industry. You may, may, want to increase your naval shipyards though. You start with about 1000 points but that is just not enough if you ever want to see some escorts show up.

Heavy industry is the hard question. I printed the part of the manual regarding production and then calculated costs for everything... as far as i can tell Japan needs 20,000 more heavy industry! But you cannot improve that much as you will never have enough resources. You start 6000 shy or so in resources but you have a good stock so i would increase all of the HI sites that are 60 or lower to give a little extra strength to your economy. Watch out for places in China though, you only have so many resources in China.

Does this help at all?
If you have any other questions ask, and i will try to help!

Another thing you want to watch is the location where you increase your industry. Harbin has some good Nate production and you will be changing that to something more useful (like Zeros or Ki-43 Oscar IIa to speed up delivery). But be careful enlarging the industry there too much as it is a landlocked base - which means oil / resource travels much slower to the base and you can't deliver it yourself via ship.

On the Home Islands its different, as you will have enough available for any inland base - especially since most (if not all) are connected by rail. I have increased my small naval / merchant yards (and correspondly sped up construction on certain ships), I have also increased some aircraft production to ensure I actually build some - read the section talking about building aircraft and engines - its random whether or not you will build any each day if you have less than 30 industry of the type at that location. I have also increased my armaments (the most) as you need armament points to flesh out units, provide replacements and so forth. If you want to fight on the ground, you need armament points and as many as you can get. I also increased some vehicle production and rearranged my engine production to increase production of the 2 important engines and less of the other 3 - you need Mitsubishi and Nakajima the most. The others are not nearly as important.

I hope these ideas help. When you increase industry you have to be careful where it is if its outside the Home Islands as it will be harder to supply down the road, as well as you might loose it to enemy attacks later in the game...

That was good xargun. I had forgotten about actually watching the map for location; i was doing most of my upgrading through the menus.
Good post.

It is best to look at the map very closely and look at the rail links between the sites that have factories.

This will break them down into logical areas that run as a complete little system.

Once you have do that (I suggest some screen shots), then you can do some number crunching and see what can be done without kicking that little system out of balance.
