Tax??

Hi,

I got WITP per digital download and thought it would cost 64,99- but it did over 76. Somehow I feel cheated- first, which kind of tax is this, second, before I hit the "submit" button, there was nothing in the bill about 11 Euros extra.

And isnt it strange that an American company bills in Euros?

No, I defently did not order a CD.

I was billed like this

Product Name Qty Ordered Platform Delivery Method Price
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
War In The Pacific 1 Digital Download/CD on Demand Digital River 64.99 EUR
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub Total: 64.99 EUR
Tax: 11.37 EUR
Total: 76.36 EUR

And this is is a pretty cheap trick in my eyes, since they made it not clear that it would be 11 Euros extra.

My other issue is, that they billed in Euros- I guess it will be gone as soon the Euro is lower than the US Dollar.

Maybe it was a VAT charge, but i would not be the authority on that..you should contact Matrix and ask them. I think when the game was first released someone asked about VAT charges for european buyers.

That´s VAT charges. "Mehrwertsteuer" in Germany.

Due to EU laws we must charge this. When you purchase one of our products it says " A VAT invoice can be viewed and printed at the end of your purchase." below that is a link on VAT charges for the different countries we deliver too.

No, since you buy from our European warehouse if you enter the "EU Store" section. We have setup various stores since this minimizes shipping costs for the repspective customers. If you only want to download a game and not have it beeing shipped to you (CD on demand) then you can use any store you want, theoretically.

Yes- and pay you 64,99 Euros instead of 64,99$

I guess this is a tax for "stupid" and honest posters. If I would have clicked on the US button- nobody whould have bothered because I would have got my game for 30 Dollars less.

I will stop here, since I am too annyoed by the whole thing and its really a waste of my time.

Since I cannot see this thing (because I would have to pay extra to get something worth to sell) and you wont take this game back, I will rest my case.

100 Bucks for a game...

The price, depending on which flag you click, in US Dollars is 69.99; Canadian 94.99; British Pounds 39.99; Euros 64.99.

They're all fixed prices and not subject to daily exchange rates, from what I can tell.

I do agree that the tax should show up right under the subtotal just as shipping and handling does.

American companies have to charge more just to make up for the shock value from how ugly your currency is.

11 Euros. The amount of time you will spend playing this game instead of driving around burning that ridiculously expensive European gasoline will repay you in less than a week...
