hi, wondering if anyone else has had this problem - i've started the main campaign playing as japan, i've run a few turns and noticed that my fighter units set on CAP or any air units set to training don't seem to be flying missions (no fatigue increase or missions flown). LR CAP seems to work as do bombing/transport/search missions...but my figher sentais/chutais just sit at the base doing nothing. i've made sure there are supplies and aviation support - maybe i'm missing something? [&:]

Fatigue from cap was toned down greatly to allow you to not have to micromanage aircraft as much.

as a matter of fact i noticed that my air units in PH that are on ASW do not have any fatigue. they do seem to be flying missions because they are bombing subs.

so my units set on 90 percent training are actually flying training missions - it just doesn't show missions flown or a fatigue increase in the pilot info screen for the unit?

First off, GREAT NEWS!

So is an 80% reoccurring CAP possible now? I've been using my trusty old 30% setting from UV days. If not what's a good (read highest) % to set as a standard setting for CAP without having to constantly worry about growing fatigue?

They shoud be showing that they have flown missions.

nope..they're not showing any signs of even leaving the ground [:)]
i've set them on escort at 60% CAP..plenty of aviation support and supplies. but they seem to just sit there...

Please do keep in mind that they only get credit for about one in 10 to 20 non-combat missions, such as CAP or training missions.

On a kinda related topic guys, do allied pilots ever 'go home'?

To be honest its not something i know much about, but for instance I believe in Europe allied B-17 crews could (if they desired) retire after 25 mission. Was this the same for pilots in the pacific and is it in WIPT?

Im guessing Japanese pilots didnt get much choice

Alied pilots will rotate out after a certain number of missions. They will later rejoin the pilot pool after a nice rest while training up newbies.

The only time Japanese pilots will rotate is on the way down.

I wondered about is becuase if they didnt rotate out them Im guessing it would give the allied a bit of a bonus with regards to pilot skill after a while that in reality they wouldnt have had (not that they are good enough anyways by '44) [:)]

Thanx, this explains another problem I'm having. Now the question is, can I work around it? The problem is that after a half dozen ASW and naval search missions using three bomber groups (10-40 planes each), I'm showing at total of 3-4 missions flown per group and non-zero fatigue in maybe a quarter of the pilots per group (thats for about 450 sorties that have been ordered). Nothing has yet been spotted, so how do I know if search missions are actually being flown or whether the pilots are lounging out back of the officers club?
