I looked through the manual and it talks about shots but I don't get what the numbers mean. When you click on a unit it displays at the bottom shots: 5:2:-:- ranges very from single digit to 4-5 digits such as shots: 5-5-2-2 Can anybody please tell me what each individual number stands for and why some units have 1 number only where others have 3, 4 numbers?
Thanks in advance

Firstly the number of numbers is the number of weapons a unit has. If you right click on a unit, you will see exactly what those weapons are. To use your exapmle, 5-2-2-2, this unit would have 4 weapons. Right click on the unit to see what those weapons are, click anywhere in the black to close the screen.
The individual numbers are the number of shots a given weapon has in a turn. In the 5-2-2-2 example, the first weapon has 5 shots, all the others have 2. Usually allshots will be reduced by 1 when the unit fires, even if the weapon itself was not used. An example would be an infantry unit 5-5-5-2 (M1 Garands-BAR-grenade-bazooka). It fires at someone 3 hexes away, M1s fire, BAR fires, no grenades (out of range), no bazooka (no HE). Now the numbers are 4-4-4-1, because less time for grenades and bazookas later.
Remember you can turn a weapon off in the unit information screen. Just click on the weapon. Green is on, red is off. That way you can save HE rounds for that bazooka til you really need them.
