Noticed this in HawaiiFive-0's AAR thread

Code: Select all

Night Air attack on TF at 65,64

 Japanese aircraft
 J1N1-S Irving x 4

 Japanese aircraft losses
 J1N1-S Irving: 1 damaged

 Japanese Ships
 SS RO-43

 Allied Ships
 CVE Kalinin Bay

 Aircraft Attacking:
 4 x J1N1-S Irving bombing at 2000 feet
 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone know if this easier to do now than it was in UV?

There are more aircraft types that have better odds for night duties. Not easier, just more aircraft suited to the task.

Oh I see, so for example a "night" airgroup doesn't need 85+ exp pilots to have a go?

And the DL/MDL rules are the same?

How do you get a TF to attack or not attack at night? I picture my 12/8 attacks as happeningt he next day turn, but now I'm wondering about that. Do you have to build a specific night variant TF to operate at night, or is there a toggle on individual ships to switch them to night operations (I know I've seen this on the planes)? In the infancy of my campaign, night attacks are a good deal away, but I'm going to butt heads with the necessity for it befoe too long.

for a bombardment TF just set retirement allowed, and it will wait for the next night before attacking.

The whole aircraft night-attack scheme seems to have been substantially revamped from UV. In about ten turns of a limited (tutorial) scenario I've had night attacks made on TFs by Betties, Frances' and Emily's about a dozen times. Most have been unsuccessful (but then most daylight bombing attacks have been also) but a few hits have been scored. In addition, non-nightfighters flying CAP at night actually intercept and engage B-29s in WITP.
